Day 3  - Alright its on. Walked into the usual gas station to pick up some gum and sunflower seeds and clerk set out a Kodiak for me. Almost lost it right there. What the fuck.  Ran out of there like a pussy. I can't believe I almost caved. KC Bronco and n2chukar - You guys are great.  Thanks for the advice.  For now I'll just focus on kicking that Bear's ass one day at a time. Take care and stay quit.
Know exactly how the gas station clerk thing goes, I went in this morning at 4:30 am to get a red bull and a couple of snickers peanut butter bars to try to get some energy back after my crazy insomnia and she asked "straight or fine cut natty?" to which I replied "Neither" *boom* drops mike on stage. Paid then left. Gotta retrain those cashiers and see that "beautiful wall of tins" for what it really is, a really expensive way to die.
Good to hear you had restraint and didn't cave. Just a suggestion, I'd consider not drinking energy drinks. Your body has been purging a chemical substance and the amount of caffeine and other junk in red bull could counter the process. Your choice though.

For my first week I drank decaf coffee, no red bull and limited my soda intake. It helped! I have continued this as my daily routine. I feel better physically and mentally for it too!
I also avoided the normal gas station I went to for a tin.

If you need anything shoot me a PM. Staying quit with you brother!

I am sitting here on day 8 and have been totally worthless the last few days. How long is this fog supposed to last? I stopped dipping twice in the past, but back then I had an active job working outdoors. It didn't seem like things were that bad back then. Now I sit behind a computer all day. For the last 2 days I have stared at my computer monitor and have not accomplished anything. Not to mention the day creeps along excruciatingly slow. Worst case scenario I'll get fired, but at least I am getting over this nicotine a day at a time. I'm over this. I am quit. There is no way I want to go through this shit again.
You will be worthless for a while. Quite frankly, your quit is about all you should be concentrating on right now. Your energy and focus will come back soon.

Spend the day reading the site and visit the chat room if you can get their from work. It will help pass the day by spending some of it with people that are, or have been, in your shoes.

Don't be afraid to tell your boss what's going on either.

Redtrain, You nailed it. I'm not putting myself in these situations. Going on day 6 today and had the worst night of sleep. I guessing i'm having the nic dreams everyone talks about. The first few days have definitely sucked ass, all I know is I'm staying quit today and feel better. Thanks KTC.
Nic dreams suck. I had a shit ton of them. Shout if you ever want to talk.

Keep kicking ass.

To avoid those situations I stopped going to the gas station I normally went to for a tin. As for the sleep, Days 4-9 were the worst of the sleep for me. Since I work through part of the overnight, I sleep during the mornings. I slept pretty well Sunday morning (Day 9). It felt great to feel back to getting quality sleep. I to NEVER want to repeat what I just went through, what a living hell. Well, congrats on your quit. Staying quit with you!

Kick that Bear's Ass!!

Just my .02 here. I completely changed up my morning routine as far as the normal stop for coffee and the can. For me it was the start of the reprogramming process, get out of auto-pilot mode and use your fucking brain idiot (talking to myself). I now go to 3 different c-stores rotating throughout the week and nobody knows me from steve. No cashiers put any tins on the counter so that completely eliminated that possible trigger. Good job on staying quit brother. QLF today
Yep, you gotta change it up. I posted in another intro about that very same thing this morning. You can't avoid everything though, so you gotta be prepared. That's where the plan comes in. Get plenty of numbers of other quitters. New quitters, seasoned quitters, and vets. Reach out to these folks. Don't just get the numbers..... use them. Text these folks. Call them up. That way, when you hit a wall, you won't hesitate to use them as a life line. My brothers and sisters here have saved my quit several times. If we aren't prepared for the bumps in the road, we will fail.
143 days later I am yet to walk into a gas station in my neighborhood. I pay at the pump and buy seeds and gum and stuff from non-dip selling stores. I do look forward to the day that I have the courage to walk into the old places. If he puts a can of Kodiak on the counter I'm going to drop him.
EFNK

You didn't run out like a pussy. You realized you were in a tight spot and got the fuck out of there. There are plenty of people that would have said, "fuck it". You didn't. Be proud friend, good job.

In the future, try to think these situations through a little in advance.
