Hey everyone, I'm Gary H. from Wisconsin. Love to be in the outdoors which as anyone else who also does knows that we're hit pretty hard by the advertisements.....Well, I started when I was about 15 Y/O and never looked back, until April 2,2008 when I woke up and told myself I've been letting my wife down, my two kids down, the rest of my family down, but most of all MYSELF down. I decided to quit. I checked out as many websites as I could and the community here seemed the best....supportive but will kick your ass if you need it. Have had to use gum a couple times but know that it can't be a crutch much longer and I need to be free from all of it. The first day wasn't bad.....the second day....not so good, and by the third day I felt like crap, thought the only way I wouldn't stick a fatty in was to stay in bed....so that's what I did. Now that I'm on day 12 I feel a TON better, but I also know that I must remain vigilant from here on out. I chewed for 15 years and thought I would forever, but now I'm done forever.....period. Nice to meet you all and maybe see some of you on the water sometime.
Nice to meet you Gary. You're definitely not alone in the early stages of your quit and we all can relate to the triggers that make you want to put in a fatty.

Every time that you can do something that used to be a trigger for you, and not dip while you are doing it, is a HUGE success for you......and for the rest of us.

Hang in there, stay close to the site, and PM me if you ever want my number.

29 days today and had my first "dip dream" last night....pretty f'd up to say the least. Not sure if anyone has seen the south park "imagination land" episode but it involved the guy in the hot air balloon throwing me a tin of skoal cherry.....FU nicotine 'Finger'

Welcome Gary and great decision. Come on over and join us in the July group, sign roll, and make a commitment to be quit for today.

Scratch that -- I just saw you lead us off today. Awesome! and welcome aboard! I found the hardest thing is when you do something for the first time...something that you use to always have a dip doing. Get that first time over with..use seeds, gum, whatever it takes.., and the next time is much easier..

I had to go on a business trip last week...and damn did that suck..from not dipping on the plane to chillin in the hotel room. But i know next time will be a lot easier..

Samuel and Al, thanks for the reply. Never thought kicking a 15 year habit would be easy and it's not for sure. As far as Favre...you never know, he said if Rogers gets hurt he would think about coming back...talk about putting a bullseye on a guys back, 'Remshot' poor guy probably has a hit out on him now Thanks again.

Gary,
Welcome. I have roots in the Green Bay area myself, but currently live in Colorado. (For Christ's sake Favre, can't we get one more year?) I am an outdoors kinda guy that has been using this site like a two dollar french whore since May of last year. Finally signed on this year because the support here is excellent. As far as the advertising, F@#$ That Gary, they know how addicting their crap is. I drive a 3/4 ton Powerstroke, a Wrangler, a frickin Mustang, and don't give one effing shit what U.S. Tobacco's impression of a man is. I've hunted almost every North American Big Game Species and have fished from Georgia, Florida to Alaska and I'm telling you, A MAN chooses what's right for him, not what some EFFED UP Tobacco company tells him whats right for him. The head games are about to start for you, Gary, so increase your vigilance and email me if you need some personal support.

Well keep it up Gary there are certain times which are triggers for me as well...After a meal, after a workout, while reading. Luckily after doing those things a few times without nicotine they will cease to be triggers.
