I tried to quit back in January and lasted 2 days. Pretty pathetic. Anyway I work as a medic and last week saw a most disturbing case of mouth cancer. It was so bad, well you get the picture. So I had half a can left, told my partner I'm done and tossed it. First 3 days are hell, still have craves. I'm determined. I quit once before years ago for many years. This time was tougher, their wont be a third time. Your advice and knowledge is extremely helpful, and I thank you for this site. I wake up to day 6 tomorrow. Day by day. How do I post roll. Thanks for your help. Chris.
What will be different this time?

Why are your here?

What are you willing to do to stay quit?

There is only one correct answer to each question.
What is your plan?
The nic bitch doesn't own you, and she never did. She called loudly to you, and told you what to do, and you CHOSE to answer her and obey her, time and time again.

As you are an addict, she'll never quit calling.

But as time moves on she'll lose her confidence, her voice will weaken, and she may forget about you for days or even months.

And during this time you'll get your own voice, and it will strengthen and become more forceful. You can use it to tell her to go to hell.

But at no time will she ever own you. It is, was, and always will be YOUR DECISION.

Decide to succeed.

Here are the roll instructions. Remember: this is not just an attendance lists. Singing your name to your HOF month roll is a promise to all of us that you WILL NOT have any nicotine for the day. That's how this place works. Sign up and make that promise early in the morning, and if you are a man of your word, you'll stay quit that day. Repeat each morning. Get to know the other quitters in you group.

Step 1 - Find the last Roll Call
Step 2 - Hit the "Quote" button in the upper right hand corner.
Step 3 - Click your mouse ANYWHERE in The bottom Box
Step 4 - Hit Ctrl and "A" at the Same time so it looks like THIS
Step 5 - Hit Ctrl and "X" at the same time so there is NOTHING in Either Box
Step 6 - Click your mouse in the TOP BOX
Step 7 - Hit Ctrl and "V" at the same time to Past the info into the top box AND ADD YOUR info to the bottom of the list
Step 8 - Hit ADD REPLY below the bottom box
Step 9 - Go back to the 1st unread post, pat yourself on the back, and have a beer cause you will not be dipping today.

For a graphical representation of these instructions, please visit http://www.killthecan.org/roll/

Whiskey,
You need to heed Rad's advice. You say a thing or two that may be a part of a plan, but still needs refining.

Here's what I'm thinking: Posting roll call EVERY DAY in your appropriate pre-HOF group. This will make you accoutnable to your brothers and sisters for that day. Read HOF speeches and Words of Wisdom. Get some phone numbers so you can reach out for thos especially tough moments - because they will occur. Lastly, just remember you are an addict, junkie, whatever you wish to call it and you will never get past that fact.

We're all in this together. What do you say we quit together, just for today?

My plan is to not be so cocky this time. To not expect it to be easy. To take it day by day. I do not want to die of cancer. I want to preserve what gumline I have left. I don't care if it's disgusting, or chicks don't like it, or it's expensive, I don't give a shit about that. I simply do not want to die of cancer and end up looking like that guy. Never.
That's more of a list of desires than a plan. What are you gonna do different? What are you gonna do when that big crave hits while you're driving along and pass your old favorite store? I think that's more what ready's looking for. We, as addicts, have to be prepared for every possible scenario that will be thrown at us.
