First of all congratulations on making the decision to be here and quit. I truly mean that! I want you to keep something in mind though, during your quit. You need to do this for yourself, not for your wife or your family or your wallet. Those are all side benefits but unless you do this because you want it, you will fail. This can sometimes be difficult to grasp but its the truth. Second, the way to quit is already a paved path, you just have to follow it. Post roll each day and make the 24 hours promise to yourself, us and your friends that you will not use nicotine. You do that and you will never use again assuming you are a man of your word. Third, if you are worried about gaining weight you need to do a little exercise which will also help with your quit. I'm not even talking about pumping iron, just take walks, ride a bike, just get up and move. Again welcome to KTC!

Day one of the big quit
« on: July 22, 2015, 07:11:00 PM »
Hey all,

I have finally decided to give up chewing tobacco for good. I started back when I was attending school in ND, USA (I am from Canada) in 2009. The price was cheap in comparison to up here, so I figured why not. Chewed a variety of skoal and copenhagen products. Fast forward, and I went to study in Norway for 6 months, and took up the addiction of using pouches. Did I ever enjoy this, as I could use the product without anyone having any idea that I used it.

Returning from Canada was difficult, as I didn't think pouches existed. It wasn't until my friend introduced me to them, and I was hooked all over again.

Reasons for quitting:
Money: I cannot afford this habit anymore. I am going through a tin a day at 20 dollars a day.

Fear of Cancer: I have this overwhelming fear that I will get cancer as a result of using pouches.

Fiance: She hates it, and how it financially sets our family back. She also has a huge fear that she may lose me.

Day one has been difficult so far. I had to do a lot of driving, which I would normally go through a few pouches. I stopped at a gas station and picked up some sunflower seeds - this helped, although it did not help with the sensation of having something in my upper lip.

I am not going to lie, I am fearful that I will gain as much weight as I did last time I quit (Approximately 40 lbs). Any tips to help with this is greatly appreciated.
