O.K. I've been hanging around this site for about a week, reading the posts and checking out all the resources. I've already made the decision to quit, so I may as well get it out there and start being held accountable.
First off....I haven't quit yet. That day will be March 1st. I have been putting crap in my mouth for 30 years (since age 13...a popular age according to the posts I've read, and funny enough, I was raised in Ohio, which appears to be a common State for the members). I have tried everything, cold turkey, patches, gum, smoking (ended up smoking with chew in my mouth...come to think of it, I think I also had a patch on....how fucked up is that!).
Nothing worked, so I'm using a triation plan with Herbal chew. The plan is posted on my fridge and I have all the cans for the entire duration pre-mixed, marked, and stuck in the freezer (the people from Hooch must think I'm a re-seller!). I also have a case of the herbs ready to go for after March 1.
I know I can't quit cold turkey...it just ain't gonna happen. I know myself too well. I also know that my biggest issue is not going to be the nicotine (but I'm pretty sure that's gonna suck pretty bad), but rather the fact that I've had something stuck in my face for 30 years. That's gonna be the hard one to break. So...the herbal stuff is truly the only thing I believe is going to work. I never even heard about the stuff until about a month ago. It's actually pretty good. I'm on week 2 of my triation plan and so far so good.
I know some of you will think I'm a pussy for not just calling it quits and being done with it. So be it. But I know myself and this is the way it's going to be. Since I won't officially quit unitl March 1, I won't have a quit group yet. So the best I can do is come on to the introduction forum every morning and state the following:
"Today I will stick to my plan to quit."
That's it. My email is
canescoachmark@yahoo.com. If any of you long-timers don't see that post from me in the intro section every day feel free to send me some nasty emails.
Thank you for this site. I'm very grateful that the people at Hooch had a link to it from their site or I never would have known about it.
Mark
