Day 23. Holy funkity funk. Barely able to concentrate to day, entire body just feels totally fatigued. Guests coming next week, so helping my wife clean the entire house helping to keep distracted (seriously...i mean entire house, like every square inch...literally...not fucking with ya's), bless her heart. Wearing a solid QUIT though, and ain't got no plans of changing out of it. Thanks for listening....now to see if there ain't some other distraction I can maybe talk her into wink wink.

Happy Halloween fellow Quitters....figgered i'd add a journalish entry to my intro thread, since Day 20 is TODAY, for which i am QUIT!!! One of these days, my list has on it to research how to quit the oral fixation of quitting. That sure does sound funny, and now I'm super curious what kind of results Google will provide when I type that in hahaha. Nicotine long gone from my system, but ever since 20 days ago, IÂ’ve had either Hooch, Smokey Mountain, shredded beef jerky, or sugarless gum in my mouth. There doesnÂ’t appear to be any KillTheFakeStuff or KillTheGum websites out there to join, so IÂ’m gonna say maybe that shit ainÂ’t so bad. AinÂ’t nothing compared to the nicotine anyway. I honestly do not think that I can quit each day if I did not have at least one, if not all of these in my arsenal of weapons. Heck, my checklist before leaving to go anywhere is actually longer than it was before I quit. Keys/wallet/phone/chewÂ…check. Now, its keys/wallet/phone/fake chew/gum/shredded jerkyÂ….check. So, for now, gotta live with the longer checklist. Not too confident right now that the checklist will ever shrink. IÂ’m making a guess that it eventually will, but certainly is not in the foreseeable future anyway.

Now just waiting for the sore throat to go away that popped up a few days ago...
Hey man, remember do not rush the results, they will come.

For now still focus on not letting that nic bitch back into your life.

There will come a time when you will be able to easily cut back and stop the fake stuff since there is nothing chemical in them to keep you wanting to do it.

I was where you are, now I have a tin of hooch that has been open for 2 weeks and still has more than a 1/4 left in it.

The sore thoat will too pass as had that as well.

This is a marathon and not a sprint, so like the turtle take is slow and do not rush and you will win in the end.

I quit with you today ....

Seems very weird how many times since I’ve quit that I’ve heard the word man cave (or words, I suppose)……no big deal…maybe I just notice it more now since ive quit, kinda like when you buy a new car, you seem to notice how many of the kind you just bought are out there on the road.  Those words together actually are a negative to me (man, I ain’t cavin’).  In the past, man cave was a cool thing…but not since 8 days ago they aint….{mindless thought complete}.
Man Sharsky, aint gonna cave. Freedom is the shit!

Interesting Yogi Berra baseball quote I read today: "Baseball is 90% mental. The other half is physical". Not sure if that also applies to the Nic Quit or not....but I thought it was funny applied to either just the same....I'm on Day 4 of my Quit, still in a bit o the fog...there, that's my excuse :)

Shark - Congrats on 4 days!!! That is a great start. Except for a few "funks" that creep up from time to time, I think you're probably through the toughest part.

You know how to quit. Now is the tricky part...staying quit. Being quit is like standing on a basketball. You can do it all day as long as long as you don't do anything foolish. But step out of line just a little bit and its over.

How to stay quit? Post roll and mean it. Stay engaged. Learn about addiction...that will help you see caves and triggers for what they are...bullshit your poisoned mind creates. You'll get stronger the more you learn and with each passing day.

Congrats, brother. Stay strong and stay quit!!!

Day 4 Quit. Can’t say Day 4 has any different feel to it than the first three. Still the same “off” feeling, like not firing on all cylinders. Status quo though….I’ll take it, cuz I really didn’t know what to expect. The ‘fog’ has been very consistent, thankfully. Just journaling my way thru this, that’s all, was kinda expecting the physical withdrawals to be worse, so maybe I haven’t seen the worst yet, guess I’m not sure. I know I learned from you all to do this one day/time, more frequent if need be, so know that I do have my guard up….ain’t gonna let her sneak up on me with my guard down. One thing is for sure, I know for my quit that I need to have fake stuff nearby….that has certainly helped and will continue to during my quit.

Scared as heck as to what these next 3-5 days may bring, but whatever is brought, I am ready for it.
I dig your attitude, man. I really do. You have come to the right place.

Let me tell you what the next 3-5 days will bring: SUPPORT.
Stay here, and you'll find all the support you need. I don't mean group hug, touchy-feely support, but the main thing (right now) is the distraction from your withdrawal misery. Read, chat, post, text, call. All of those are tools we use. The second thing, and this will become more important as time goes on, is brotherhood. We all know what you're going through. We've been there. That's proof that you can win this battle. It's also accountability. You posted roll, which is actually much more than a roll. It's your promise. Each and every one of us did the same thing this morning, and we all expect you to keep your word. That's the center point.

The next few days are gonna be miserable. Headaches, no concentration, anger, you name it. Every person is different.

Bottom line for RIGHT NOW: get some contacts if you haven't already. This weekend will be tough. Be ready for the craves before they hit. Know what you're gonna do. For me, I'd send a text to a bunch of KTC folks. The ensuing chaos of replies would keep me busy for an hour. Nothing fancy, but try that sometime. Just send "this sucks" to 8 or 10 quitters and see what happens. I still do it occassionally. Any person here will hook you up with a contact if you ask. Just a PM away.

See you here tomorrow.

I am Quit. Quit I am...
« on: October 12, 2012, 08:51:00 AM »
Today, I am quit. Quit I amÂ…Â…10/12/12.

Last dip was last night 8pm. Been ½ - ¾ can a day for quite some time now, chewing for 20 years or so. That’s how I kicked that darn smoking habit shortly after college….chew. So nicotine habit not kicked. There a great friggin’ idea. What an idiot. Young and dumb. Now old (older anyway) and dumb. Well, dumb no longer, at least regarding nicotine. Today, I am Quit.

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 years ago. Double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, and a slew of other issues that go with it (she is a survivor by the way, all is well), wouldnÂ’t ya think thatÂ’d be a wakeup call to quit? Nope. Sure it crossed my mind, but I still thought I needed it.

Scared as heck as to what these next 3-5 days may bring, but whatever is brought, I am ready for it. One of the many things that IÂ’ve sponged so far from you all is to take this one day at a time. ReadyÂ…SetÂ….QuitÂ…....

I did post roll, pretty sure that I did that correctly. If I didn't do that properly, I may need someone to help me with that....
