Did I just see a first post by John himself in August since the accident!?!? Welcome back dude! Get your strength back, we've been praying for ya!

Littlelebowsski - day 68, back on the prowl
Appears he is indeed back. Was on vent and feeding tube. Waiting on an update from his wife. Awesome to see!!
I've been trolling around the site today looking for something uplifting, or some new quitter who is drinking the Kool-Aid, and it's been one of those days where most intro posts have been negative...until this! Great news! Totally made my day. Be strong!
Update from Annie:
Hi Joe -
Sorry it's been a while since my last update. Things are moving along here so I haven't had much time...which is good. ;)
John is doing great. He has been off the ventilator for a few days now and doing well. They moved the ventilator out of his room this morning and capped off his trach. He is still on a little supplemental oxygen but not much. This starts a 5 day trial to make sure he can tolerate the trach being closed. If the next few days go well they will take the trach out for good.
John will be discharged to an inpatient physical therapy rehab center from here. We're not sure if he will be staying in Portland for this or heading back home to Bend.
John has started using his iPad and was on the KTC site yesterday. Not sure if he has posted anything yet but I'm sure he will soon.
Thank you all again for the prayers, well wishes and extremely generous donations. It warms my heart to know that so many people care.
Thanks,
Annie.
That's great stuff.
Really glad to read the good news-- keep up the fight!

KTC Community - One of our own from August quit group was in a single car crash in Oregon. Littlelebowski was airlifted to a nearby hospital and has been in a coma since last Wed. LL and his wife had their first kid 12 days prior. Lots of upheaval and uncertainty in their world and lots of unknown costs. If you would like to contribute to John and Annie, please see paypal instructions below. Collectively our $5, $10, whatever amount you contribute will go a long way. Conbud has already printed the vortex of well wishes and sent to his home address with a KTC Quit On shirt.

LL Current status: John is doing well. They turned down his sedation today to try and wake him up. Apparently it can take a while for the drugs to clear his system so he hasn't woken up yet. Hopefully tomorrow. The last CT of his head looked really good. His lungs are still very bruised so he will not be off the ventilator as soon as we had originally thought. But the lungs will heal, it just takes time. Hope that helps. Thanks again to the KTC community for all the support.

Paypal Instructions to donate:
Go to Paypal.
1. Type the following for Annie's email: baumannas@gmail.com
2. Type the amount to donate, then click CONTINUE.
3. Complete the information for billing, contact info, and password. You need to have/create a PayPal account, but you can either delete or not use it in the future, then select the AGREE AND SETUP ACCOUNT button.
4. You will then be on the review page where you can add a special note at the bottom (optional). Once reviewed, click the SEND MONEY button.

Let's do what we can to keep this one at the top of the intros, thanks.
KTC Community: Update of LL below from Annie. We are 70% of the way towards hitting the goal. Thanks to all.

Update:
John is doing very well. He has made a lot of progress over the past few days. He is moving his arms and legs, squeezing hands and nodding to answer questions. He is unable to talk right now with the tracheotomy. His lungs are still very bruised which is making it hard for him to get off of the ventilator. Because of this he is being transferred to a specialty hospital in Portland, OR (about 3 hours from our home). This facility specializes in pulmonary rehab so it is the best place for him to be to speed up his recovery. We will be leaving later this week to join him in Portland.
GREAT NEWS! Let's get the other 30% of this goal KTC... If we can beat nicotine we can crush this goal as well!
KTC : We remain at 70% attainment. Enjoy the 4th, freedom isn't free.

Update from Annie: John (little lebowski) made it to Portland and is all settled in his new room. He continues to do well. He is off all of the sedation meds and just on pain meds as needed. He appears a lot clearer now that all of that is out of his system. He started PT and OT today. Lungs continue to heal but he is doing well on the ventilator.
I did get the shirt that Conbud sent. I think it's great! As soon as we get unpacked I plan to bring it up to show him. I know he will love it.
The last time I checked KTC had donated $350! It is much appreciated. Thank you all again for your support. That's the update for now and I'll continue to keep you posted.
KTC Community - It's a long road ahead for littlelebowski (John). I didn't post the link to the newspaper article covering the accident since this is an anonymous forum and felt it was not appropriate to share his name. John was out fishing solo with his Australian shepherd dogs. His truck was hauling a boat and likely over corrected in a turn and rolled numerous times. Air bags did not deploy. LL was medi-vaced to a hospital and has been there 3 weeks recovering. August will continue to post for him daily knowing that he is in the hospital and is quit (thanks Bass). One of his dogs was found at the scene and received treatment at a vet hospital. The 2nd was lost but was found later totally unhurt obviously possessing massive spidey skills. How does a dog get thrown from a car and land perfectly with no injuries??

We are 80% complete to hitting the goal. Thanks to all from July and August for your support and consideration. Prayers are welcome. Hope everyone had an awesome holiday weekend.

Update from Annie: Hope you had a good 4th of July weekend. John continues to do well. He has been much more alert the past few days. His range of motion for his arms and legs is much better too. He has started working with speech therapy. He is mouthing words when asked questions and is able to answer them appropriately. He is not able to swallow yet so they started working on that today too.
John's lungs continue to improve. It is a 19 step program to ween him completely off the ventilator. They are planning to start step 1 tomorrow. Average time to complete the program is 30 days. So I will continue to keep you posted on his progress. KTC members have donated $400! Thank you so much for all the support.
Fresh 7/10 update:

Hi Joe -
At least you are all internet weirdo strangers with good hearts. ;)
John continues to make progress. He started step 2 of 19 this morning. Not sure exactly what that means or entails but we're one step closer! He is interacting more with friends and family and his personality is coming through more and more each day. Yesterday was the first day that he was able to hold our 6 week old daughter all on his own. That was pretty exciting for all of us to see. So the journey continues...we still have a ways to go but we are thankful for all the progress so far. And we are especially thankful for everyone's support.
Thanks again and I will continue to keep you posted.
Annie
7/15 update... The KTC community is AWESOME!

Hi Joe -
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Things are going well in Portland. John is doing great. He is on step 11 of 19 today for weaning off the vent. He will start on step 12 and possibly 13 tomorrow. He has been doing well with PT/OT and speech therapy. He is now able to have ice chips which he is very excited about.
I'm very happy and grateful to report that KTC members have donated $550! John started talking a little bit this past week. He asked me to pass on a big thank you to everyone for the thoughts, prayers, gifts, cards and generous donations.
Thanks again for everything. I will continue to keep you updated.
