Title: Day 2
Post by: Screeby on September 23, 2018, 09:08:57 PM
Hello. Back story is chewed 14 years, quit for 14 months and then back on it for the last 8 or so years. This is Sunday, so this past Thursday I had a very honest convo with my dentist. He had never jumped me before, his brother is going through some things from chewing and I think he had wnough. I should state, I am on the jom.k ing level with my dentist, truely a good dude. So, I actually walked into the gas station to buy another can later in the morning and bought somw herbal stuff instead. Over the course of the day thursday i started mixing that in. Saturday morning I had a mixed dip in the morning and havent had any sense.

So 32 hours or so. I have some of that herbal stuff but they dont have anymore at thw gasbstation ans thats probably ok. I have eaten a ton of mints. Life saver, breathe mints, just mints in general.

I have noticed I am really REALLY tense. Like my jaw in clinched all the time. Crazy. Sleeping is brutal. 4 or 5 hourz the last 2 nights.

Not sure what or why I am even posting, maybe just a good place to just vent.

Thanks

This is an excellent place to vent. It's 99% of what we're here for.  Use all the mints you can get your hands on, if they're sugar free prepare for some painful gas.

Just keep the nic out of your system.  The first week sucks. Chug chug chug water. If you push through, you'll see it gets better quick.

Good luck and congrats on your quit! If you're looking for more herbal stuff, Wal-Mart almost always has it!

Scree, glad you've made the decision to quit yesterday.  Did you post roll today?

I have struggled fetting around this website to be honest. Took me almost a day just to get that posted.

I havent roll today, i am not 100 percent sure what that even means.

Today I just wanna stay quit. At 11:00 this morning will be the 3rd 11:00 in a row i havent had a dip.

Side notes. I have gained more then 4 lbs since thursday morning. I have slept worth a crap since zero nicotine.

Posting roll is the backbone of this site. It is our promise to each other that we will stay quit for the rest of the day. We make the promise daily, early in the morning. We post our promise (roll) in our Quit Group, a group of quitters who quit within a month of the same time you did.

Based on your quit date, your Quit Group is the December '18 Quit Group http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=52.0 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=52.0) found at that link. Your quit group is the month where you will hit 100 days quit, which is a milestone celebrated here at KTC.

Feel free to send me a message with any questions you may have. But, please do post roll. That's our secret to staying quit.

Proud to quit with you.

Scree,
What RDB said...Posting roll is so key to the success of our quits.  Please follow the link he posted and learn the ins/outs of posting roll.  You will hold yourself and your fellow group members accountable each and every day.  Yes, the site can be a bit clunky but once you get the hang of it, posting will become part of your day...just like waking up every morning and having that first cup of coffee.
And congratulations on 3 days nicotine free.  You will feel better and better with each passing day.  And remember, we all started with Day 1 and quit one day at a time.  Take care and quit on!

Hello Screeby.  I'm pleased you've decided to quit.  Drink plenty of water.  Fruit juices will help too.  I chewed on cinammon sticks the first few weeks to get over the oral fixation, worked for me.  There's links to some information in my signature.  You'll want to educate yourself about nicotine addiction. Be student of your quit; knowledge is power, ignorance is terribly expensive

A gigantic green bag of LifeSaver mints from Costco has been my saving grace. I also have had two dips a day of Smokey Mtn Herbal crap. I told my best buddy I quit this passsed weekend and he called me Monday morning to tell me he was quitting too if I was. He threw his can in the garbage Monday morning.

SWEET!!!

Gonna help me if he ain't chewing when we go snowmobiling this winter.

Anyways. Love the suggestions, thanks fellas.

So you've got four posts so far, all of them here in the intro pages.  You should be posting roll here:http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=584.msg14003#new
It's the January quit group.  We don't roll alone here; we support each other.

Honestly I am not a huge fan of rules and so forth. I really thought it was a place where I could toss stuff out there and not be judged. Converse freely with people that have gone through or going through quitting.

I will just roll out if I am making ya'll this upset.

By the way, day 5, live your best life.

You are an addict.  If you half ask your quit (like you are doing) it won't work.  Buy in for 100 days, get in a quit group, support others, etc.  If after 100 days you want to step back and just post in your intro more power to you.

At your current involvement I'd be surprised if you make it 10 days.

I am an addict, with out a doubt 100 percent no denying it.

I just had the wrong idea about this website. Thats fine.

I will make 10 days. I will make 100 days. I know thus because I am not going to ever use nicotine again. 21 years was enough. I have literally eaten over 2 lbs of mints. I am an @sshole to be around. But i havent chewed again.

And I wont.

Try it man, post roll every day, join the group chats, text people from here and talk about what you're going through, etc. In the short time I've been here its helped me and made things so much easier for me rather than dealing with it alone.

I'd be more impressed if that was posted in a quit group.  You are just window shopping and if you were really hooked window shopping doesn't cut it.  Maybe you are the exception to the rule.  I really don't want to see you fail...Im just trying to give you the best chance of success.  Guys that come in here and only hang out in the intros page don't last long.  Again...maybe you are a unicorn

This made me laugh a bit: “I’m not a huge fan of rules and so forth”.  Fairly certain I have heard all my kids say this recently.

Screeby, it’s not about rules, to me it is about playing the odds.  Do we need a website to quit, not necessarily.  However, of all the nicotine/tobacco addicts out there, how many of them quit vs die via complications due to this drug?  Bottom line, it is incredibly difficult to quit this crap.  What this website does is offer a simple equation with accountability.  Are you a man?  If so, your word is your bond.  Post a daily promise that you will quit for 24hrs, honor your promise, then do it again tomorrow.  That is it!  In this, there is the addition of a brotherhood with fellow quitters who get your issues and offer guidance and the occasional meme.

Bottom line, you can stand firm and remain adamant that this community’s equation is inaccurate or you can conform a bit and begin to post roll.  As we fight this nicotine addiction, why not stack the odds the best we can to defeat it?  It’s really simple and logical, and many here to help ... including me! But whatever floats your boat or helps you find your lost remote.

Important to note for Screeby that It's not that hard when you have the structure of the forum and a community of people to talk with and text with and support each-other. Anyone can make it 10 days on their own...shit bro anyone can make it 100 days on their own if they really tried, or whatever other number you wanna put out there.

I've done it, but it was always some huge struggle and internal battle in my head 24/7.

The point is you don't have to do it on your own, and using this forum and the community inside it; quitting dip is no longer some huge struggle or battle. You just quit, that's it. Its simple, its easy, there's no struggling or fighting. That's the difference between doing it on your own vs. with a community. It's so simple as a team effort that it's not even a hard endeavor at this point. You just make your promise and don't do it. And that's the end of that.

Doing it on your own is way way harder.

Wow, glad I can be your guys' amusement.

Please reread my previous post, I thought this is a website where I can vent off stresses and so forth of quitting. I did not know that I had to check in every day. Post in this thread over here. Then I can come into this other thread to chat it up.

I am not belittling anything this website or forum stands for. It just isnt my cup of tea.

So instead of saying to me, "hey man, thats alright, if ya run into a tough time post back" and support someone trying to quit. You will only support if they quit your way.

Again, it obviously works for you. Its just not my gig.

I will be just fine. I count the days. Add up the money I havent spent. Look at the Yamaha Wolverine X4 I told the wife I was buying after 2 years off.

I will even check back on January 1st and be 100% honest on how I have done in what will be my 100th day.

Ok I’m afraid you’re gonna be borrowing money for that 4x. Please come back in a year and prove me wrong. If you do you will probably be amongst the other 2% that do it. Impossible no, but much easier with 30,000 plus helping you go through everything they have already experienced. Tough love around here. No popsicles and ring pops, this shits for real. Don’t be like me and want till you have some serious issue before you decide to quit, it may be a little late then, so far I’ve been lucky. Oh yeah if you have no health issues it’s a helluva lot easier to put that nasty disgusting stinking shit back in your mouth. Put your bigboy britches on, grab your damn sack and quit with me, it’s really not that hard. It only took me 38 years to find this place, where I could finally quit. So who you gonna write to when you leave here? Honestly nobody else really gives a shit about listening to you bitch about lack of sleep or not being able to take a shit, my advice take what you need here and leave the rest. We all want you to make it. So damn dude post roll it’s not that hard. Bet you could figure it out if it would have been 2 weeks ago and we were giving away a roll of cat shit. Don’t leave May be your last chance before that fatal dip. Nope not trying to scare you just telling the truth. Odaat why is that so damn hard

There's absolutely nothing amusing about watching another man succumb to the clutches of an addiction.  What you're laying down is what we refer to as 'addict speak'.  You are making excuses, nothing more.  The sad fact is that only around 40% are successful and that's the ones that see it through here. The odds....and time are against you.

Crazy that no one quit before this place came along. Bravo! It just tears you up that I dont want to be in your double secret super cool awesome club.

The side by side will be my gift. It will allow me to take the wife and two kids out on the family land in the Hills. And lnowing that my former addiction allowed me to purchase a part of it makes me happy. But since that isnt part of roll it cant possibly help me.

Ever thougjt about the difference between promising people ya dont know and yoir wife? Or your snowmobile riding partner?

A riding partner that is quitting with me.

But but but but roll...

See ya january 1. Unicorn out.

Either post roll or go find you another playground. That’s the price and remember if you fail please come back and we will welcome you with open arms because that’s what we do here

So instead of saying to me, "hey man, thats alright, if ya run into a tough time post back" and support someone trying to quit. You will only support if they quit your way.

This always baffles the hell out of me.

Would you walk into someone’s home and proceed to tell them how to run it and belittle their ways yet continue to hang around for some mysterious reason? If it’s not your thing... buh-bye.

This is OUR house. Of course we’re going to ask you to play by our rules. Duh. YOU came here... we didn’t hunt you down and recruit you.

Our method works. It’s proven to work. That should be abundantly clear. If it’s not your gig... buh-bye. Good luck. You don’t really get to use this site for your journal without first buying into the privilege of that by buying into our method.

Don’t get all butthurt... pull your head out far enough to see that your chance of success by doing it our way is exponentially greater. Community efforts to keep winning over an addiction trump a singular unsupported effort any day.

Shut up, suck it up, and give it a shot.

But if it’s really not your gig...
Buh-bye.

Stop being a gai boi and come quit with us.

All you gotta do is take 25 seconds to post role every morning and thats it. That's the minimum involvement, and guess what it works....you want to get more involved? awesome, even better, text dudes, talk with people on here...but even with the minimum it makes quitting that much easier

Just another new guy. Tommorow will be 2 months of no chew after a little 14 run with that crazy can. I still find myself grabbing for my can now and then. I'm not smart enough to get into that "roll call" thing, heck, needed help getting a user name and password from the admin. Thanks for that by the way. Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I read articles on the website for about 2 weeks before I quit, it helped me know what I was getting into.

if you can post here, you can post in your group. Which I believe would be July10. Go over an introduce yourself. There is alot of shit for you to learn still, alot of help to be found in a quit group. Don't sell yourself short. Dumber folks have figured it out so I'm sure you can too.

Yup, get involved and stay quit. I'm in your group, brother. Go post roll in July. Here is what you do:

1. Go to quit groups
2. Find July
3. Click "first unread post," and if the first unread post is a roll call (not something somebody posted for shits and giggles in our group), then...
4. Click Quote
5. You will see two boxes. One box will be on top and the other will be on bottom. Click the bottom box and hit "CTRL + A" "CTRL +X"....
6. Click on the top box and hit "CTRL + V"
7. You will see two different groups per post. You will have the "Quitters" and then you will see the "Quitter Support." Sometimes they are hard to see when you are doing a quote. But, make sure you click under the last "quitter" and post your username and the number days you are quit.
8. Enjoy being quit for another day and the next day to your new life.

I did post roll call once but now can't find it back. I honestly don't count my days, just know when I quit. April 20 was the day I stopped the real stuff. I eat alot more now as I when ever I was hungry before, I'd just toss a dip in. I need to start working out or I'm gonna be a beached whale in 6 months :)

I was told numerous times it couldn't be done.

Just letting you know I did do it.

Your bitter because I quit?

Bitter? Nah, bro.

You’re quitting. That’s fantastic. Another FU to big tobacco.

As has been mentioned... when you’re not really part of this community (which you’ve thumbed your nose at repeatedly), your status updates are just more background noise. Nobody really cares.

Good luck.

Go back and read from the start. I did not thumb my nose. I struggled to get it to post on my phone. No computer at the time.

I got ripped on for not doing it.

At that point it was clear that it didn't matter if I was having issues with the "posting role" section of this site. If I couldn't figure it out in that day or two. Found this site on day 2 by the way, I wasn't needed here.

So instead of letting this site not help me, I used it as motivation.

I read all the things like i was a "gai boi" and quit on my own.

I challenge you to start with the first post and read it all.

I read from the first post. You not that difficult.... glad you are quit. And glad you were able to use KTC to get this far.

Since I took your challenge, I would like to offer one to you.... go to December 19 group (click pre-HoF groups) post your name, day count and a promise to not use nicotine. Then engage these foggy new quitters and help them get through the fog and the funk.

Quit with you today
