Day 30 now. Finished the drill with out chew. It was really tough. Everything I do in the Army I had a chew in. 3/4 of my unit uses. It is like part of the uniform. Anyway I made it. Was a little more cranky then usual though. Yelled a lot. Kept thinking back to the site and the people here and never came close to caving. So if you are new here this site is the single best quit source.
Now today is Thursday. Since Monday maybe has been the worst time of my quit. I do not know if it was because of the win I had over the weekend or not. But man I have been craving bad. I have been bouncing off the walls all week. Then last night back to no sleep. Wow. At no time did I ever think of caving so I guess that means it is getting better. But the mind is still weak I guess. Still staying strong with all of you.
Great job my brother! Your mind is stronger than you think it is. You are winning daily. Regardless of the craves, you know that failure is not an option. You are very strong and my quit is stronger because of you. Thank you for your service. I'm honored to be quit with you!
Thanks jcook. I am glad to be quit with you. That Superman cape suits you

Today I have to go to drill at noon. We will be taking an APFT then go to the field. It is the first time I will be going to the ARMY quit. Not sure how it will be. I will not be able to post or contact anyone, so this will be a real gut check for me. Just wanted to post this here so I could think back to it during the weekend. Hope to be back Jan 10 with day 27. I will stay strong and stay quit.

Buckeye64 good luck on your weekend drill as well will be looking for you Monday.

Rode my harley yesterday for the first time without some kind of nic in me. It was strange but still felt good. The only problem it was close to freezing outside. Froze my ass off. I can now mark off another thing I can do without nic.

Everyone have a safe newyear and stay quit.

So here it is 2 weeks down. Can not say it is any easier but feel stronger every time I post. One of the weird things happening is I love football. I could watch it 24/7. But now that I have quit I can not sit still to watch. Does this get better in time? Will i be able to sit and watch a whole game in time? Just asking.
This will get better. Like everything else, give it time.

One thing that I found out is that I have adult ADD and I had been self medicating myself with nicotine. Other guys here have had the same and have been prescribed medication. I told myself I would give it to day 100 then day 200 before I got serious about getting medication. I am doing fine right now with it at day 362. Laying off the booze helps too.
I have not had any booze since I quit. Do not trust myself yet with the booze. Hope I do not have ADD. They already think I am crazy at work and in the platoon. I will watch that though thanks.
I have had the exact same problem. I think it is two issues with me.

1. I was just used to watching football with a dip in my mouth. That was one of my triggers. So I'm trying to re-learn watching football without that dip. I think that part will take a while.

2. I have noticed that I can't sit still as much for things. I think this is part of just my brain re-learning to think without nicotine. I read this somewhere: It is like a car running on pure fuel now as opposed to running on the dirty crap. My brain is now running without the nic crap and it can actually function at full speed now, so concentrating and focus takes time to be re-learned.

It will get better. I am at day 31 and I have already seen some improvement. Still sucks, but not as much.
