I'm a Hawkeye living in KC area. Graduated in 1992. 40 years old now.

Iowa City is where I started chewing. About the only negative to come out of my years of college.

I've quit now for 2 weeks. Problem is that I'm using fake stuff, which keeps me with the same overall habits (diet coke + eating).

But, I've quit and I'm going to stay quit because I have to.

This goes for you too. It's no longer an option to cave. You can't. Your life depends upon it.

Two of the best decisions you will ever make.....Quitting and joining this site.

And yes, please beat Michigan St. this weekend. As a Badger fan/alum, we need for MSU to lose a couple if we are to go to the Rose Bowl.
a strange game. the only winning move is not to play

I guess there was some concern about your quit..."cutting back" is not quitting. But if that is what you had to do, so be it. The important thing is that you're off that shit now. I don't care how you got here, just that you are no longer using and you stay that way. Just post roll, keep your word and repeat.

Congrats!!!

I am 49 and chewed since I was 12. Multiple quit attempts before I found this site. Hang in there and keep trying. I am now on day 29 - did I do it the way everyone else did? Hell no, before I posted on this site I mixed one can of Cope with one of Smokey Mountain Herbal. This cut me down to 50% and after 3 days I was just chewing seeds and SMC. It's nice for others to say man up and go cold turkey, but if you can't go cold turkey take advantage of everything you can to gain the advantage. I also was on Chantix for 30 days before posting up as well and going to the 50/50 and then the seeds. If you get the same end result-the quit-does it matter what path you take? Will you still suffer through the withdrawal, absolutely but it was more gradual for me this way.

I just joined up yesterday. Chewed since I was 17 and am now 44. Just decided it was time--for lots of reasons. I have tried to quit on m y own before--no luck--always caved. I hope with the support of some others who are fighting the same addiction I can make it. Day by day.
Welcome Hawkeye!

I'm 40, dipped since 13, 53 days QUIT.
I've tried many times, many ways, always caved.
Then I finally took the advice of my wife and looked for support. Found this site and completely changed my life. IT WORKS.....IT REALLY WORKS!!!

BUT.... you need to be 100% commited. No fuckin around here. Everyone here knows what you're going through and we are proof that it can be done.

Stay Strong-Stay Quit

"Hopin" is for cavers...you're a real quitter. You can do this. Post roll, don't dip, and repeat. Read everything you can on this site.

Great to have you, bud. Embrace the suck. It is the fight of your life. Have fun with it. Stay strong, stay quit.

Just follow our rules and I guarantee you will make it. Here is a simple quit plan.

#1, post roll call early EVERYDAY
#2, get the numbers of at least 3 buddies in your group.
#3, before you cave you must get permission to dip by calling all 3 of those buddies.

After talking with them and getting their permission to dip, you can then have a dip.

Funny thing is, since I am a man of my word, after posting my promise on roll call I never came close to caving. Is your word as good as mine???

Hawk - I too dipped way too long. I'm 46 dipped since 16. I'm now 129 days free. I failed on many attempts until I put my mind in the right place and used this site to commit every day. If you use this site and believe in the post up and keep your word, then the days will start adding up.

Glad you are quit, welcome to the fog. Email or PM me if you want contact info. This is day by day. Get seeds, fake snuff (hooch is great), drink water, have a plan. Exercise is great to burn off rage and stress.

Get pissed at US tobac and YOURSELF for using this crap for sooo long. Once you get past the initial days, then take pride as the count grows. Post, keep word, do it again.
