Welcome Pete! You've made an excellent decision! I am from August 2010. Day 27 for me. Longest I've been quit in 8 years.

My recommendations to you as I am just now emerging from the hard suck and thick fog:

1. Post roll everyday.
2. Read everything on this site. I love the words of wisdom and HOF speeches.
3. Come up with your personal quit plan.

Here's mine for an example, I keep it simple.

1. Post roll in the morning.
2. Keep my promise all day.

Before I chose to cave I must:

1. Call five of my August brothers and tell them of my decision.
2. Sign the contract to give up (See my signature) and give it to my wife.

Above all else, get NUMBERS!I know it sounds strange, it did to me at first too. They can really help you in your early days when shit just sucks a big one.

Personal Message me and mine is yours.

Follow Kb's instructions on roll. Also, if you haven't read everything in the welcome center, it is a good place to start. click her for Welcome Center

Here is a link for your quit group:

September 2010 quit group

That is where you will post your daily promise (roll). You can ask questions, ask for help, rant, rave, chat, etc. in there. That is where you will find the brothers and sisters who are going through the quit just as you are. Vets will be there watching, supporting and chiming in too.

No go over there and post roll with KB's instructions. If you screw it up the first time, you will be in good company, so don't worry. Someone will fix it until you get the hang of it.

Stay strong and stay quit. And remember, you just have to get through some tough stuff early on. It gets way, way better.

Pete to do roll call:

1. Find your September Quit Group
2. Click "first unread post." If the first unread post is a roll call and not something cute somebody wrote, then...
3. Click "Quote"
4. You will see two boxes (top/bottom)...go to the bottom box and click CTRL A + CTRL X
5. Click on the top box and hit CTRL V
6. Once you do this, you will see the roll call in the top box. Now, with that being said there is a "quitter" section and a "support" section within this. It's hard to see at first. Make sure you are in the "quitter" section. You will post your screenname and how many days you are quit.

I'm not sure what the roll call, or buddy thing is on this site. It took my over 1/2 hour to even figure out how to post.
Please give advise. I want to post / roll call / chat / etc. on a daily basis. I beleive that will help get thru the "suck" that i am about to endure.
Like i said earlier, i am a newbie and trying sincerely to give this shit up.
need help.
staying active here will help you through WAY more than the suck. The suck only lasts 3 days or so. The mind game wil fuck you up big time if you do not come here and let us know what is going on. Rant here on us anytime. DO NOT take it out on your family and friends who do not deserve it...you can though beat the hell out of your quit buddy for being so damn stupid with each other for years. Kick his ass anytime!!

I'm here to stay.
I've been a tin a day (at least) (Skoal Straight) for 14+ years.
Started my Freshman year of high school, straight thru until today. Today 06.14.10 is MY Quit Day-1.
I am motivated and never been so sincere about stopping. I have to right motivation in my heart, and want to rid myself of this problem that has been engrained in my daily life for so long.
already its been tough today. My 9AM sh!t break was the worste without my big fat lip on the toilet. havent done that in a long long time.
My best friend has been dipping beside me for the whole time i have too. He recommended this site to me, and he became a member also. His quit day started 4 days ago. We promised to sponsor each other and beat this sh!t together.
Any advice for a first time quitter? anything is appreciated.
You just made one of the best decisions you ever will. In time you will love the way you feel and all your newfound freedom. You will see reasons to be overjoyed about being quit that you're not even thinking of now.

For now, though, just quit today and today only. Get some stuff to shove in your piehole (gum, sunflower seeds, fake dip....pie, whatever). Your gonna be in "the suck" for a few days, but embrace it. Never forget it, because you only want to do it once.

Spend as much time as you can/it takes on this website. It has wisdom that will help you around every corner. Read everything and post anything that is bothering you, questions, rants, dip rage, whatever. Use this site as it was meant to be used and you will succeed.

Post roll every day, first thing. It is your promise not to use nicotine and it is sacred here. Do it every day and live up to your word. It's that simple. Not easy, as they say, but simple.

Everyone here has your back, and your September bros are going through the exact same thing you are.

Last check out my sig below. It helped me early on. Nothing that comes at you today is as important as quitting. Nothing. And caving isn't an option anyway. You gave your word (if you haven't, do it right now in the Sep. 2010 group).

I'm quit with you today.
