I'm here to stay.
I've been a tin a day (at least) (Skoal Straight) for 14+ years.
Started my Freshman year of high school, straight thru until today. Today 06.14.10 is MY Quit Day-1.
I am motivated and never been so sincere about stopping. I have to right motivation in my heart, and want to rid myself of this problem that has been engrained in my daily life for so long.
already its been tough today. My 9AM sh!t break was the worste without my big fat lip on the toilet. havent done that in a long long time.
My best friend has been dipping beside me for the whole time i have too. He recommended this site to me, and he became a member also. His quit day started 4 days ago. We promised to sponsor each other and beat this sh!t together.
Any advice for a first time quitter? anything is appreciated.
You just made one of the best decisions you ever will. In time you will love the way you feel and all your newfound freedom. You will see reasons to be overjoyed about being quit that you're not even thinking of now.
For now, though, just quit today and today only. Get some stuff to shove in your piehole (gum, sunflower seeds, fake dip....pie, whatever). Your gonna be in "the suck" for a few days, but embrace it. Never forget it, because you only want to do it once.
Spend as much time as you can/it takes on this website. It has wisdom that will help you around every corner. Read everything and post anything that is bothering you, questions, rants, dip rage, whatever. Use this site as it was meant to be used and you will succeed.
Post roll every day, first thing. It is your promise not to use nicotine and it is sacred here. Do it every day and live up to your word. It's that simple. Not easy, as they say, but simple.
Everyone here has your back, and your September bros are going through the exact same thing you are.
Last check out my sig below. It helped me early on. Nothing that comes at you today is as important as quitting. Nothing. And caving isn't an option anyway. You gave your word (if you haven't, do it right now in the Sep. 2010 group).
I'm quit with you today.
