Hello, my name is Clayton. Dipping has consumed my life for the last 30 yrs. Never tried quitting before, and not sure why I chose now is the time to quit but I did. I would wake up in the morning, reach for may can and put in a dip (Grizzly Wintergreen Pouches) The only time I didn't have a dip in my mouth from that point forward during the day was either brushing my teeth, eating or just took it out to put a fresh one in. Yesterday morning after the shower and brushing my teeth, I reached for the can that was on bathroom vanity and decided that it was over and I just flat out didn't want another dip. The can is still there as of right now, I left it there in case I went into a seizure from withdrawals :) But seriously I'm not sure what to expect as far as nicotine withdrawals. I did buy sunflower seeds and a lot of gum. I have been putting my gum in my cheek like a dip.

I don't hope I will kick this habit, I know I will. My old Sales Manager once told me when he asked me If I was going to make Quota for that month and I replied " I hope so" He said to me : Hope is for things you don't have control over.

Thanks
Wow. How familiar does that sound? It was only 47 days ago that I was that guy, and it already seems light years away. 35+ years here. If we can do this, you can. Keep posting, keep reading, keep busy. Use the fake stuff if you need to until you can tackle it also. Whatever it takes to keep your body nicotine free is ok because you'll gain strength and knowledge and power as you pull away from the nic bitch and you'll then be ready to fix other things. Once you kick the nic bitch back, everything else seems much easier! Proud to be quit with you today!

Hope is for things you don't have control over......love that.

I'm here. Still quit. I'll get caught up on post roll this weekend. Wife is wearing me out with Honey Do's this week.

Thanks
Hey Clayton. I'm in the June group with you. I see that you're pretty new and that someone sent you the instructions for posting roll. Just so you know, daily roll call is the cornerstone of how we stay quit around here, so it's not something you can really catch up on. It seems a little tricky at first, but once you do it a few times, it only takes a few seconds every morning. Let me know if you have questions, and I'll send a PM with my number for support in case you need it, but you have to get on and post roll ASAP

Clayton are you still with us? I hope you are.

I'm a 49yo quitter (275 days) who dipped/chewed and generally abused myself with nicotine/tobacco for 37 damn years. You can do this. Get back in here. Post roll. Quit for one day at a time.

I tried unsuccessfully too many times and bet you have too. This place can show you how to get quit, stay quit and keep the conniving nicotine bitch off your back

You can find tons of advice and inspiration here from guys (and some gals) who can help you. Read some in the "words of wisdom" and "hall of fame" sections. I know you'll be inspired to post roll and get your quit started.

Hey Clayton, I'm glad that you decided to free yourself. I'm another 30+ year user, and today is Day 72 for me. I never thought I'd be saying that, but that is what this brotherhood has helped me to achieve, and continues to help me stay quit. Posting roll every single day has been huge for me, and I can't overstate that enough. My promise to my quit brothers here has been an anchor.

I'll tell you, brother, it ain't gonna be fun. In fact, as that Nic Bitch sees her hold on you slipping, she's going to really start kicking your ass, both mentally and physically. But hang tough, my friend, because it will get better. Spend time here and get numbers from people, particularly in your quit group, so that you have an outlet when the cravings get bad, the rage sets in, whatever. PM me if you want mine. You got this.
Clayton my friend best damn decision you've made in years! You are gonna freak out like I did when I quit. See I'm 50 dipped 38 years so, I had know frigging idea what to expect, just like you. I woke up when guy's started telling me I was an addict just like a heroine user! Hell no I said! Guess what I was wrong! I was no better I was a junkie killing myself just like they were! So think about it, you're an addict also! Let's do this together! Don't let nic steal another precious second of your life! She's stole a whole lot, over half, that you will never get back! Take back control of your life! May sound crazy now but it will make a helluva lot of sense in time! Your move! Post roll
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Welcome to the rest of your life. Now get on over to June 2015 pre-HOF and post roll!
Like Rawls, I guess I'm an old man too. Near 50 and chewed for almost 38 as well. You sound like I did one day when I just quit...nobody told us. We just got tired of it and are quitting on our terms. I'm on day 27 today and NEVER thought I could do it. But I do it one day at a time.
Read, read, and read...the people on this site understand what we go through when we quit. Get rid of the can...replace it with fake chew and gum. You have a lot of support here.

Hello Faulknerc,

Welcome to KTC and the road to Freedom without Nicotine.
A New thought is not to see it as a can or Pouch. But as a DRUG.

You and I are close to the same age.... OK .. That's not true.. Your an old Man, I'm just 50. Ha
But, we were raised in times when chewing was just what every man did.
It was just part of our identity, and figured I would do it till I died.

We also learned over the years..(I was a 38 year user) that we could deal with anything as long as we had our fix. (LIE)

I just want you too know that our DRUG fix never helped us DO ANYTHING! And life is so much better without the DRUG!

I quit with you today.

Learn to post roll and make a promise... do it today.
Then spend some TIME on here daily until you get out of the FOG.
It will suck until it doesn't.

Send me a Personal Message (PM) through your inbox if you have any questions.
I believe.....

1. Dump the can in the toilet and flush.
2. This isn't a habit, it's an addiction. Admit that and you are on your way.
3. Read up on the Welcome Center and learn to post roll call. That is where we promise ourselves and the world we will be nicotine free for 24 hours.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.
