That is some scary stuff when the docs start talking biopsies. Hope that turns out ok and this is nothing more than the reality check you needed to finally get the job done. Your wife and daughter need you here.

Ditto the guys below in that you've got to ditch the gum. I understand you're in a pressure cooker right now, but we have to put distance between ourselves and the addictive substance. Tobacco is not the problem. Nicotine is the problem, and as long as it is around, tobacco has a route back into your daily routine. One of the very few requirements of this site is that each member stab the addiction directly in the heart. No patches, gum, etc. Just good old-fashioned quit.

I support you 100%. If you're still looking for contacts, PM me.

Hello Everyone,

Today is my third day of my quit. I have been dipping skoal at 1-2 cans a day for about 15 years. I recently went to an ear nose and throat doctor because I have had problems swallowing and have been feeling like there is something in my throat. It turns out that there is a suspicious lesion on the way back of my tongue, and they are going to biopsy it. The doctor told me that I need to quit. I am praying that it is not cancer.

I have a little baby girl and a wife who are dependent upon me and I can't stand the thought of leaving them. I have known about this website for a while, and always knew that I was going to need to be a part of it. This site is a godsend and a miracle. I have read many of the stories on this website and have been brought to tears. The feelings of guilt and shame that I have and am feeling are very real and continuing to dip is not an option.

I have about 15 cans of fake chew, hooch, smokey mountain, been jerky chew, holt chew, sunflower seeds, and I am using nicotine gum just to stay somewhat sane. I know that chewing is not an option. I wanted to introduce myself, and hopefully get some phone numbers to call because I am going a little crazy. If you would not mind me calling you please post your number because I would love to talk to someone who has been through/is going through this shit storm.

Thank you all for your time
I truly feel grateful to be a part of the community.

I pray your medical issues are nothing serious! Really......I'm praying for you! Timeless is right......dump the gum. I've posted this to many guys on here that say they are using gum........I have a friend that "quit" dip and went from a $30 a week addiction to skoal to a $50 a week adiction to nicorette. We are addicts to nicotene here......no matter what form it come in.......patches gum dip cigars and cigarettes are all forms of feeding the addiction to nic! It will be difficult but dump the gum! You can do it and I'm proud to be quit with you! POST ROLL once you dump the gum! We are all here for you.

Welcome man. Sorry to hear about your medical issue. I hope it turns out for the best. I'm 42 days in right now and it feels great. PM if you'd like to chat. I'm here to help whenever you need it.

One word of advice- get rid of the nicotine gum. It's not going to do anything but prolong the suck. We all went cold turkey here. First few days will be rough then it gets better.
