So had a dentist appointment yesterday. I've been extremely honest with them and get a screening each time. Of course 6 months ago I was going to be quit long before I went to the dentist again but in reality it ended up being 5 days. Better than spitting one out before I went in like I've done in past.

Well everything checks ou and were most impressed with lack of discoloration and all the gum numbers were perfect. Well I'm certainly happy but feeling like I have before when passing the 'dentist'. Feel like a free Pass to get back on the program guilt free for a while. Well I've kept he crave at bay but man seems to be getting harder no easier.

Clearly the demons saying man you've gone 7 days and you got no mouth problems go for it. Jus one can. Well holding tough but any words of advice would be greAt.

Hope all is well

We talked about this already on the phone but maybe this will help someone else too. Now's the time (among other times) that you really have to keep your guard up as she will start lying to you. And she can lay it on thick too!

Now, it's "See? Dentist called it good. You could be like old man Jenkins down the road, dipping for 50 years and no problems at all.

Ahem. BULL. 'B.S.'

Or, "Oh yeah, clean gum. Throw one in for just a little while. You know, to celebrate, like we used to."

Ahem. F U NIC. 'Finger'

Stick to the truth you know, and you'll find that truth on here.
Yeah, figured once the physical stuff was gone that I would be good but the bitch is lingering around in my head for sure. I'm staying strong buddy for you and everyone here. hour by hour / day by day. I got this and thanks for all the support.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Thats a testimonial to all of us. We must and can only quit for us. We can't quit for God, Wives, Children, job etc. We have to want to quit.

Once we do quit, we are quit for all Those that are still slaves need us to stay quit to show that it is possible and we are better off! Those that are curious can hear our cry never to touch the shit.

Also, to kill the tobacco industry, they must lose more customers than they gain.

Yes quit for yourself but once quit, you are quit for all!

Nice post Freeme. Rose my fucking quit spirit today!

Thanks,

More saying I just havenÂ’t totally gotten the drill down yet since between finding KTC on Friday afternoon, reading the intros and various posts, deciding to become involved and then to quit all happened in less than 3hrs. I realize some of my posts show a bit of waiver and really Friday afternoon I probably was, but just needed until today at the office to get things rolling on my end. However, IÂ’ll be roll callÂ’d up after this post and today I have time to dedicate setting up my phone, reading more, etc.. Much appreciated for everyone looking out for meÂ….. IÂ’m super stoked to be involved.

So yes, made it through the weekend and it wasnÂ’t too bad. A little cranky, not feeling great but I resisted all urges to hit the corner store for that gold topped whore. With the mother-in-law here, party on Sat (a friend had a fat one in and asked if I wanted) and two tiny dictators (my kids) constantly needing something or screaming I think I did pretty well. Today is going to be the challenge since at work there might be an hour combined that I donÂ’t have one in. Field work this week and then next week a trip out west for work. BUT, the one thing IÂ’ve learned thus far is you canÂ’t think that far out and IÂ’m working it out from there.

On Friday night dgonseaux reached out and shot me his cell. We had a great text chat on Friday night that brought things into perspective for me. Since then weÂ’ve been checking in a few times a day and it has really helped me to focus on where IÂ’m headed and of course just to talk with someone whoÂ’s on the same journeyÂ…. He has really been great and IÂ’m not sure how I would have ended up this weekend without our talks and his advice. I could keep writing and ramble about all the excitement and trepidations but I got to post roll now!

Thanks everyone.

No I'm still on the program. Just not a whole lot of free time and hadn't totally figured with my phone. Hasn't been too bad this weekend. Nervous for tomorrow but will post up and roll call in am. Thanks for checking. Been texting with degon as well which has been helpful. Got to get the kids to bed but check in and fully update tomorrow.

Free time has very little to do with posting roll. It literally takes 30 seconds out of the day. What kind of phone do you have? We have people post with phones all the time...I have had to do it myself a few times and it is not too difficult...besides, if you screw it up someone will fix it. If you can't post roll one day, shoot a text to someone who can post for you...just make the promise to somebody here!!
Did you make it through the weekend (I don't know what "on the program" means)?

I hope so, and I hope you never miss another day posting roll. This is one of the most important decisions you have ever made in your life, and a decision that you need to make every day.

It is going to suck for a while, it really is. But it is nothing new to the people on this site. We have all been there and are all here to support you in your quit. YOU CAN DO THIS TODAY!

PM me if you need anything brother, I am happy to be quit with you.

Thanks dgon,

I've stared at your last sentance off and on for an hour now.  Its gone and I am ready.  I'm going to work at it each day but I don't feel quite right about posting roll call until I make it through the weekend.  I don't know what is in store for me with the M-in-L here.  I know I can't look back and I have always felt "drinking the CT koolaid" (I love that) is the only way to go but I guess I'm just scared to feel like shit around the family and I don't want to let anyone down here while I fully take hold of all this.

I will say over the last week I have had some minor sucesses which I keep close.
- No dip last sunday
- didn't take my can to lunch today
- and of course found this site

Thanks everyone and I look forward to becoming involved.

Tell them about what you're going through. They have to understand that you will act irrationally from time to time and that it will pass. This is a season in your life an on the other side, you will be a better man. It's worth the pain.

The biggest thing is RECOGNIZING the crave, how you react, and QUICKLY removing yourself from those that you love, normally for just 10 or 15 minutes. During that time, get alone, call or text a brother, and get on this site.

I encourage you not to wait to post roll. Do it today. Day 1 with no nicotine.

You NEED the accountability that posting your promise to 60 some odd other people in your group gives you. There's something about promising people that have been there, done that, and won't take no shit off of you, that adds an extra level of accountability.

Check your PM's, my number is there.
I have to agree. You are here for a reason and today is the best day to quit. If you wait you may never make it back. This addiction takes no prisoners. Dump your stash, all of it !! Tell your family what is going on. Post your promise to us and let's get you quit.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!

Thanks for the advice, knowledge on the community expectations and positivity.  WT thanks for sharing and wow 38 years.  Congrats.  I will begin to familiarize myself with the protocols / roll call and make the jump.  Sucks my mother-in-law is in town but that is the exact point......there will always be something to convince the demon to stay.

OK guys thanks for the initial words.
FM12

Quick question.... would this be considered my quit page or shall I start and new thread and where?  Thanks!
Oh the mother in law....I used that excuse once when I stopped dipping before I found this site. I made it a whole 24 hours with her at the end of my first week of quitting and told myself that "I did good, I deserve a can". What a bunch of horse shit.

I too, was a gold lid slave, and dipping coffee grounds has really helped me out. I tried the patch (before I came to KTC and drank the cold turkey kool aid) and I can tell you, it most definitely will not help the mental challenges you face. To prove it, I had one on during the aforementioned cave...

You're on the right path of thinking with "there will always be something to convince the demon to stay."

It's up to you. Stand up and so no. Lean on your coworkers who have quit and lean on us. We know what it's like and we're here for you.

Now do me a favor and FLUSH IT!
