Thanks for the input guys, I am going strong and I am not even feeling too many cravings at all. Just been working hard to keep my mind off of it. I have been feeling very foggy though, I can think straight but it feels like there is a blanket of fog sitting on my brain... makes me dizzy sometimes, I know this will subside soon.
Once the nicotine leaves your system they will begin. So when that comes have beef jerky, seeds, ball gag and some numbers to text us. They will hit you, everyone goes through them! Luckily though, you only have to do it once and you will remember the feeling. Stay motivated and stay quit!

Keep going! I can relate. I took a break for six months one time and 13 months another and picked up nicotine again. Not going to happen this time. Alcohol was the trigger one time and complacency was the other.

I am on day 11 of my quit and feeling good.

Hey guys, around this time last year I quit dip for the first time after 8 years of use and abuse. Amazingly, I was successful without relapse for 10 months but slipped one night when I had too much to drink.

The last two months I was back at the Copenhagen and as a result my alcohol consumption greatly increased. I think the two just go hand and hand.

I am 3 days clean now and doing quite well, just a few intense craving attacks and a few bouts of vertigo. I hope I can keep it away for good this time!
Welcome! Start with the welcome center link at the upper left (it's the pink one) and read all of it. Also, if you hope you might quit this place is not for you. We quit here, we do not try, we do not hope, we do not wish - we quit. If that's what you're here to do and you're here to do it for good, again - welcome! if you have any questions I can help answer about what we do here or if you'd like my cell number hit me up with a pm. just click on my name to the left and click pm.
The tobacco companies tried to kill me. They enslaved me for about 20 years. I'm mad about that. They'll never get another damn dime of my money. I promise you that.
Damn straight! I have been quite long enough now to really realize the magnitude of this addiction. I was at the sports bar the past couple of nights, treating myself to steak and diet cokes, since I also gave up alcohol entirely. I observed the people as they walked in and out every 10 minutes as a group to smoke. Something I never noticed before is how this addiction has fueled their entire social interactions. These people show up at the same time, to smoke at the same time and they think it's "cool" to go outside as a group. I guess I should have realized this, but nope. I never really noticed it because I usually had a big lip full of crap, so it never bothered me enough to notice.

I really wish people would understand that this addiction is so much more than just the nicotine. It's everything you do. When you quit everything changes! It's been a unique 19 days for me, but luckily for me I work a lot and mostly dipped at work. Because I mostly dipped at work, I have had a good amount of exposure to my most uncomfortable triggers. This has helped strengthen my quit. I am coming across more triggers in other scenarios, but those are pretty easy to push through. It's ones are work have been the worst!

I know I rambled, but I felt the need to share that!

Mich is absolutely right. Quitting for the long haul takes a shift in mindset. If we don't keep our heads in the game, we will fail. I had to completely change who I am. I used to be that "good ole boy" with a chew or a dip. Now I'm a quitter. I wear that title like a badge of honor because it was not easy to acquire. Being a quitter is the absolute most important thing I do behind being a good father and husband. Actually, that's all sort of one thing. I cannot set a good example while I'm killing myself with nicotine. Same is true if I die of cancer before my kids hit their teens. Here are the things that I see that may help you.

1. You never quit before. You took a break.
2. You didn't "slip". You hit a rough spot and weren't prepared for it.
3. Alcohol and nicotine don't go hand-in-hand. Alcohol weakens your determination. Then your addiction overcomes you.
4. "Hope" does not work. There is "Quit" and "Not quit". Pick one.

Not trying to be difficult here. Just passing on what I've come up with. The tobacco companies tried to kill me. They enslaved me for about 20 years. I'm mad about that. They'll never get another damn dime of my money. I promise you that.

Congrats on 3 days quit. Go ahead and click on the salmon colored welcome link above and get acquainted. Learn how to post roll and promise not to use nicotine one day at a time. Read, read, and read some more. There are some bad ass quitters here that will support you if you put in the effort. Try to stay away from the booze, drink tons of water and work out. Seeds and gum are your new best friend. Glad to be quit with you today. Let me know if you need anything.
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
