I didn't even look at the date. Wow. Had all the reasons in the world to quit. Maybe he did. Maybe he has been white knuckling for 365(2) days. just pray for him and his higher power to rise above the addiction.

Chaos I dipped for over 4 decades and quit 2 years ago. I have very few natural teeth left and have had multiple gum graphs. I continued in my addiction through all that also. Non addicts and even some addicts can read your story and ask how could you continue dipping after all you've been through? Not me, I even sat with my friend as he died with most of his face eaten away from oral cancer and I sat there with my dip in place. You can quit today, but unless you join your quit group and commit to no nicotine today you will have an out. As far as withdrawal, most nicotine will be out of your system after about 72 hours however the battle of reprogramming is just beginning. The craving goes on gradually getting less often and weaker. HOF (100 days) is a good start but remember as addicts we are never completely free, that 1 dip puts you right back where you left off.
You may have waited too long or not, it really doesn't matter. Today is a new day and the only one that counts.
"If you worry about what might be,
and wonder what might have been,
you will ignore what is."

If you need a contact pm me, I'd be glad to give you my number. And you have my prayers for healing and quitting.

Welcome Chaos98,

This is real simple here at KTC.

1. Post Roll, promise to us and yourself that you won't use for 24 hours (Be a MAN of your word and act like you have a set) Do it again the next day. Don't worry about next month, next year...blah blah blah........worry about today, this hour, this minute. (ODAAT=One Day At A Time)

2. You (We) are addicts so that means you can never use nicotine again, EVER!

3. Remember you are an Addict, THAT MEANS YOU CAN NEVER USE NICOTINE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

I quit with you today!

chaos, thank you for sharing that moving introduction. Regarding the withdrawal symptoms, everyone is different. My withdrawal, compared to others, was mild though my cravings were on par. I've seen these last for up to 14 days, with the average between 3 and 7. This is the period we refer to as "the suck" and our advice,Â…embrace it. Know this suck and never forget how miserable it makes you feel. Then promise yourself never to put yourself through it again. This will become one of your motivations to stay quit.

Sounds like you have every reason to get your name on roll call tomorrow. Your quit group will be July since you quit on the last day to qualify for that group. Post your name there every day and become accountable to that quit group and all of us at KTC. You are accountable for your promise, and that promise is not to use nicotine for that day. Repeat this cycle every day, one day at a time. Now get your name in there and lets chalk up a victory for day 2.

Hi Everyone,
I have quit dipping after 38 years Wintergreen long cut and usually brand did not matter. I had non hodgkins lymphoma diagnosed in sept 2012 had chemo was stage 4 so had other places involved and then i thought the chewing got me threw the tough times little did I know it was gonna create tough times ahead. From years of chewing naturally I got gum disease the in November of 2013 I started getting abcesses in my mouth finally went to dentist who sent me to periodontist who in turn sent me to the oral surgeon. Well guess what gotta have some teeth removed. then guess what one of my shots that I was still taking can cause you some real problems with extraction so off the shot for three months take antibiotics daily special mouthwash and all that crap. But could not give up that dip. Then it finally got to hurting so bad when I would put a dip in that shit I could not due it anymore. So threw it out the window and so far have not looked back. But guess what the withdrawls have sucked the sleep thing is terrible I have a sore throat that started just before I quit and still have today. Been to all my doctors and my oncologist sent me straight threw all the cancer scans early but said its probably from the gum infection that my lymphs are swollen sure hope he is right. Will have test results tomorrow. Also got call from oral surgeon and they are gonna finally pull the 7 teeth tomorrow that just happen to be on the same side of my mouth I chewed on imagine that. Please share with me your withdrawl symptoms ie how long did your sore throat last. and anything else you all expierenced. I am gonna whip this demon with everyone help.
I hope you find the strength to quit nicotine. This site can help. The other members will save your life if you let them.

Reading your story gives me resolve to continue my quit. (27 days)

Send me a PM if you need anything.

Hi Chaos98, you have come to the right place. Read the welcome center and post roll everyday. I finally am quit after chewing 33 years and probably close to your age. One of the reasons I quit was I thought the dipping was starting to affect my health. I wish you well and if I can help PM me.

Wow, I don't really know how to respond to this. That's some really heavy shit you are going through. I am your age, I dipped for 26 years more than a can a day. Because of this site I have been quit for 153 days now. I was never able to stay quit until now. This site works if you follow all the rules. Go to the welcome center and learn how we do things around here. You gotta stay quit man. Be strong.
