A GOOD THREAD ABOUT NRT's

Craig...Which statement is ok? in your opinion.

#1 Oh man, I was totally freaking out about the Home inspection on the new house so I threw in a chew.

#2 Holy cow, I was super excited to see my new kid I couldn't stand it, so to calm down I put on a Nic patch...that helped. you know, since I quit chewing and all.

#3 I stopped putting all nicotine into my body asap and asap as in Right the Fuck Now! That helped...cuz the addiction or "habit" of chewing is two fold.
#1 the oral fixation of putting that shit in your mouth and knawing on it all day. and secondly the nicotine addiction. Quitting means stopping all forms of nicotine from entering your body. Via chew, Patch, gum etc, etc..

Just in case Craig, the correct answer is #3.

Thx all.  Threw the junk out over the weekend.  Had a 5.5 hour flight yesterday.  I hate flying.  I fuckin hate airplanes.  Stressed to the max...I wanted nothing more then a dip once I got my feet on the ground.  Didn't though, just had some gum and slapped a nico patch on...seemed to work.
Oh Dear!

Dude it was even funnier if you came in like me for the first time and read the thread from the beginning bottom to top. LOL, i was on the floor.

Scofford came around after a day or so. Very nicely indeed. I elect you sir, to explain it to him. The SAME way it was explained to me when i came in here merrily chomping on nic gum. :)
OK Glenn... Time to pay it foreword. :D
short version............the nictoine patch or any NRT prolongs the withdrawl symptoms......over and over and over again. Get rid of them and go cold turkey.. 3 or 4 days max...you'll feel so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ocraig -

First, welcome to KTC. This place is AMAZING. If you are serious about your quit, KTC is here to help make it happen and will keep you away from nic forever. That is why so many of us here believe, without question, that there is only one way to escape nic: cold turkey.

Cold turkey sucks. It's no fun. It hurts. It's brutal. But it's clean. And in 72 hours, your body will flush itself of nicotine. Just 3 days.

Don't think you can do it cold turkey? Look around the site, talk to the quitters. I would guess that almost everyone here on KTC finally realized that we are nicotine addicts and the best way for us to end our slavery to nic is stop using it PERIOD. No "lozenges", no gum, no patch. Just several swift kicks to the nuts, some crazy times, some angry times and some good times but most importantly, no nic times.

We have the quit numbers here at KTC to prove it, friend. We have all gone through Hell Week (Month/Craves/etc.) here. And we are all quit. You are not alone on your quit  you can do it, too, without question. My advice is to throw away the nicotine and as kdip tells you clearly:

EMBRACE THE SUCK

KTC is set up so that you will embrace the suck with people in the exact same boat as you - just starting their quit. If you haven't yet, click here to visit the February 2010 HOF class. This is your immediate family here at KTC but it doesn't stop there. Many quitters are here to help you on your way should you need it. Chats, discussion boards, meetings - it's all here for you to use and make this be your final quit.

Good to have you here ocraig. Throw the nic out and come out swinging!

A suggestion you probably don't want to hear...... Why don't you get rid of the NIC patch as well. All it is doing it prolonging your Nic addiction and cravings. If you just go ahead and suffer for the next 3 days or so, the nic will be out of your system and the physical withdrawls will start to subside. The fastest route to quitting is to go COLD TURKEY and get the hell over with it!!! Embrace the SUCK!!!

Yeeeaaaaa, yesterday was a hard day. Today is Day 3, and I swear seeing an ant craw across the concrete pisses me off right now. Even watching a soaring bird who looks happy is aggravating me. I even went as far as to buy some Chi Thai Frothy Green Tea concochion of a drink from a sidewalk drink barista yesterday, just to try to enjoy it. I feel like a yuppy. Although, the patch is hel;ing greatly with craving. At the moment, I think its the whole point of knowing "I Can't" (take a dip) that's killing me more then anything....cause I've gone 3 days without problems before (but knew I would take another when I wanted it).

Congrats on your decision and you seem to be taking the same approach as I did. A little pain here and a little pain there.... however you need to do it.

Some people do not like this approach but if at the end of the day you are quit and stay quit then -- its all good

Welcome. Great decision.

Today is a good day to quit. You are just prolonging the pain. Throw the shit out, all of it, right now and you can post up "Day 1" in your group.

You can do this.

P.S. check your (Inbox 1) upper right corner of your screen.
