Thank you so much for the rapid response. Do you have a recollection of your jaw hurting; like a dull pain; seems like a craving to me; almost like if I put tobacco on/in it, it would go away. Of course I'm not going to do that, but it seems that this is one way that it is calling/haunting me.

As for the Feb.'07 quit group, is that where I would receive even more responses to my inquiries/concerns? How do I find it? (you must think I'm an idiot!)
freemason -

your jaw hurting is completely normal... mine felt like it was going to crawl right off my damn face for a while there. you're more than welcome to go into any groups you'd like but the guys in february 2008 are at the same stage of their quit as you are -- they'll be understanding exactly what you're going through!

February 2008 not 2007...Quit groups page, near the top. HERE

The mindfuck is when your brain tries to convince you that you need dip, that just one won't hurt, that you can't live without it, that because your wife/girlfriend pissed you off, you deserve a dip to spite her......That type of thing.

A Quit Plan: Do you have one?

CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit.
After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco. SportDad 1/13/05

.....and yes, "Fake Dip" is an acceptable form of quitting, just use it for emergencies and don't let it lead you back to the real deal. Happy quitting. :)

I have been exactly 63 HOURS without tobacco touching me or my mouth. This is not yet three days, but I am determined to beat this shit. I am 39 and have been dipping Cope for 25 YEARS. That's right, they got me as a little boy; the mother fuckers! Believe it or not, I actually smoked before I started dipping; the dipping helped me stop smoking for a year until I fucked up and started smoking again as well. I quit smoking 25 DAYS ago, which I had already tapered down to one or two cigs a day; I'm not having much difficulty with staying away from them, it's the fucking DIP!

I went out searching for an alternative and all I could find in my city was wintergreen Bacc-off. It's full of sticks that poke the shit out of my lip. I have some in my mouth right now; it makes me feel guilty, like I'm cheating. My main concern is, notwithstanding that Cope is probably the filthiest shit on Earth, that I am now exposing myself to other harmful agents, not to mention that the inside of my lip is probably rougher than if I was using Cope; this shit tears up a lip. That can't be good for one, right? So, I have ordered some Hoochsnuff through the mail; can't get here soon enough! The craving is coming on strong and all I have to deal with it is this Bacc-off, which is like a bunch of broken up toothpicks that taste like candy. Is any of this even acceptable to ya'll.

My jaw hurts; does this sound familiar to anyone?

Please excuse my ignorance, but will someone tell me how to use this website? Am I doing right so far? I can't think straight or concentrate; I just know I can't touch tobacco anymore; that is where all my efforts are going right now. Help me Brethren!

Congrats on the wisest choice you will ever make, quitting tobacco. Hang in there, read all you can.......sign up with the Feb.'07 quit group and join in with your brothers. Bacc-Off Sux.......try it cold turkey, get some jerky, candy, gum, etc. Just stick this out and it will get better. Glad you're here. Welcome aboard. Your story is all too familiar. Cope-Junkie myself. Cope-free for 647 days and counting.
Never go back to the can-o-death. Be quit and be free. B)
