UPDATE

DAY 10: The feeling of forgetting something has subsided. Productivity is up, and I am $80 richer. Life is good, wish I had the balls to begin my quit a long time ago. Thanks for welcoming me to the fucking club, I like it here.

Damn Peter, I can absolutely relate to absolutely everything you said about the lies to kids, wife, money spent, etc. My oldest is about to turn 13 - that is when I started this damn habit. I can't look him in the eye anymore and continue acting like a hypocrite. Keep it going bro.
He is lucky to have your guidance on the matter. I read your intro as well, and you and I have a lot in common.

I keep reading about all you guys putting "pinches" in. LMAO, I got 4-5 dips per can, and I would not pack a pinch, I would pack a beastie!

Thanks for the support everyone.  This is Day 2 for me, and besides for an empty feeling like I'm forgetting to do something.  I feel pretty good.  I haven't been to a dentist in probably 8 years, and the thought of having clean white teeth again is very inspirational, as is reading the post by all of you.  I made a decision to quit w/o fake stuff, just trying to eat healthy and hydrate with water.  Glad to be a part of this group, and already I sense a comradeship with all of you.
Welcome Pete, nice meeting you in chat.

I didn't use fake either. Stock up on seeds, gum, hard candies (atomic fireballs are the shiz) and lots of water.

Post up, read read read, and get involved. Most importantly, shout if you need anything.
Bump dat.

I used Hooch Spitfire. I also chewed seeds. And beef jerky. And coffee grounds. And toothpicks. And peanut MM's.

Get it?

Just keep the worm shit outta your mouth.

Welcome. We're here to lean on.

Come on tarp, not in a dude's intro!
My quit told me if I ever leave, it will kill me.

Nicotine owned me for 24 years. I resumed control on Feb. 1, 2011.

There is more help and support here than you can imagine. Reach out one time when you are in trouble and you will see the magic of this place. People you only know fromt this site will stop what they are doing to help you.

Make sure you use this resource. PM your number to people and get some in return. Form bonds with your brothers in your group, these are the men you will fight this battle with daily.

Follow the methods here, embrace what we do and I assure you, you will be quit.

Welcome Peter.

By now, you've seen that you've signed up with the toughest, meanest, most serious bunch of quitters you're ever likely to meet.

If you weren't committed to quitting, or had it in your mind that you're just going to give yourself a break from using - cut back for a while - you'd realize by now that you've made the very worst choice of company possible, and you're probably a little scared right now.

These people are committed to quitting with you every day for the rest of your life. If that's what you really want, I'm glad for you that you're now a full-fledged member of the cult of quit, with all the rights and obligations thereof. I'm quit with you.

I was a closed door dipper for awhile until I just stopped caring, which was way worse. What a jackass I must have looked like in the checkout line with a quarter tin of crap shoved in my lip.

Welcome and fight for this, its worth it.

I was a closet addict for a few years until I just couldn't take it anymore, and my mom walked in my room and found me with a spitter. After that I was caught by my future mother in law who wasn't happy either... After that I stopped caring...which is probably worse.

Welcome to the quit. It will suck at first, but it will get better. The first few weeks are the worst, but it is well worth it. You will have to commit, grab your balls, and hold on for the first few weeks, but you'll make it.

I once snatched a quickmart receipt from my wife's hand and ate it to hide the cope purchase. She thought I was being funny. It was gross but I choked it down. We're all addicts here and all have lived as addicts in one way or another. Welcome to the quit party bro. First few days suck. Reach out if you need.

That's pretty intense.
