KeithTownBU –My name is Keith Townsend and I have now been quit for 100 days! What a fantastic feeling and it’s only going to get better at time continues. I honestly can’t remember the age I started dipping, but I believe I was somewhere around 15. I’m now 32, so I was a dipper for more than half my life….ridiculous. I live in northern, VA just outside DC, married, 2 dogs, mortgage, and work for a federal contractor onsite at a classified federal customer (pretty much the norm). I was a Skoal Mint dipper for over 10 years, and before that I ran through the various flavors. I can honestly say that I don’t miss it. I feel so much better. I have been working my ass off to keep off the weight, and I’m only up 5 lbs. I know I haven’t been the most active poster, and I understand the rules and why daily posting is important, but for me it’s been enough just to stay honest with myself, all of you, and do what I needed to do to stay quit. Even though I only posted about 70-75 times over the last 100 days, I can honestly say that without this group, I never would have stayed quit, and will continue to stay quit. I might be in the DogHouse, but I’ve stayed Quit! I haven’t decided if I’m going to sign up for 200 yet, but I plan on continuing to post as often as I can. I know I will stay quit though, and if I ever feel compelled to end my quit, I will make sure to contact the group to talk me out of a stupid choice. Thank you all for continuing to encourage and support me in my quit. I’m so happy I found this site. Both me and my wife thank you!
"If you want to quit then stop talking and just QUIT. If you want to kill yourself a bullet is cheaper and faster than a tin, plus it eliminates my hearing you whine and cry like a bitch."

 • Interests: I was addicted to nicotine for about 19 years before I actually realized that I was an addict to a drug. Allen Carr helped open my eyes with LionHeartedGirl (my sister). I am currently on day 2 and because of the frame of mind and different point of view that "The Easy Way" has given me, I don't doubt for one moment that I have ingested the last bit of that weed for the rest of my life. I am 35 now and am setting a goal of living long enough to have saved $100,000 because of my quit. At the same time, I am setting the goal of not smoking TODAY! One step at a time, while keeping my eyes on the horizon.

The only thing I'm gonna add is "be prepared". This first few weeks will NOT be fun. None of us will blow smoke up your arse on that score. Buckle down... It takes some work. I hope you're man enough to keep your word with your November group and I hope you're man enough to strap in and beat your addiction. Everything and everyone you need to be successful is on this site. It's your quit bible right now... Soak it all up bro. Welcome to freedom! PM me if you need anything!
Fun is such a relative word.

I find suffering and pushing myself to the limit to be fun.

Other's find lying on the couch and eating cookies to be fun.

Regardless, kicking the Nic Bitch is not easy and will test the best of any man. Strap them on, hang on tight and learn to live again.
Oh little worm-dirt...you are so scary...F' OFF...!!!

August 13, 2013 - a day to remember. That is the first day of THE QUIT! I've been dipping now for over 15 years and I'm 31 with a respectable career, good friends, a fantastic wife, 2 awesome dogs. Basically I have everything I have ever wanted, except the urge to quit.

Well I have it now! I'm really going to do it. I'm going to post everyday in the November HOF group. I'm going to beat the crap out of all of you verbally on the boards. I'm going to sit in my office, do my job, and chew the shit out of gum, sunflower seeds....whatever I can get my filthy hands on. I'm not going to take it out on people I love (even though I slightly failed last night with my wife).

This is it! It's going to happen, and I'm going to quit!

Let the Quit being.

BTW....the top 100 reasons to quit posting is hilarious. I'm pretty sure I've experienced about 80 out the 100 listed. I was LMAO!!!!
Great decision! Now get in to the welcome center and read, read, read. First thing is posting roll. Post day 1 and let's get ur quit rolling. This is the first step in taking control of ur life and not being controlled by a poison weed. Welcome aboard!!
Great choice to join...take it out on us here not your family I am sure that wonderful wife of yours never once pulled your lip out and packed it full of poison in a can... I am pretty sure I am correct on this. Also tell us about you, tell us who you are quitting for.The bros that responded ahead of me hit it pretty well with the read read read stuff I would only add listen and learn.  There is a tremendous amount of reading here on the site read HOF speeches read threads get into chat.  Also read the stuff now as much as you can and when the fog clears read it again.  your perspective will change.PM me if you need anything.
Welcome brother.. read till your eyes bleed.. post EVERYDAY
Great job posting roll.  Stay quit today brother. PM me if you need anything. Thanks Everyone! I have already joined the November HOF group and have posted the past 2 days. I'll do it everyday for sure. Instead of dip being the first thing I think about, I'm replacing it with posting. Posting has actually helped me a ton already, and I've been on an off the site all day reading stuff when I can.A little about me. My name is Keith Townsend and I live just outside of DC in a town near Chantilly, VA (near Dulles Airport). I've been living here since 2006. I started dipping in 1996 when I was just 15 years old. Stupidest thing I've ever done. I've work for a government contractor and have a senior management position with the company. I can honestly say that I'm pretty happy with how life has turned out so far, but it makes me wonder about all the time I've missed putting nasty shit in my mouth, and where I could be in life if I never started. Anyway, I've started now, and I'm not going back.Honestly, I've been thinking about quitting for a while, but the catalyst to quit was definitely my wife catching me a couple of times recently. She's more important than this crap, and I owe it to myself and her to quit (mostly to myself). It's kind of the same situation that happened to my wife and I 3 years ago. 3 years ago I weighed 252 lbs (I'm 6 feet tall). Today, I weigh 182 lbs and have maintained my weight for almost a full year. My wife was the catalyst and kick in the ass for me to lose weight, so I know it will work with dip, but I also know it's going to be much harder, and I'm ready. Bring it!Thanks for all the support already. I can't tell you how much this is going to help.
Hey Keith,Congratulations and welcome! What have you told your wife about KTC?
Great job on posting roll today, Keith. How is today going?I'm still looking for an answer to my question re: your wife and KTC...
Keith, it sounds like you have the right attitude and that you are starting to drink the KTC kool-aide. If you have not done so yet start making your plan to stay quit. Get phone #s (pm me if you want mine) and be ready to call or txt if you need a wake-up call, print out the contract to quit and wrap your cash and credit cards in it, print out cancer stories, start talking so much quit that you cannot possibly cave... You need to build your toolbox.
