Hello all,

I just recently found this site and have been reading through some of the posts. You're all very inspiring, and I'm hoping I can reach that goal of putting that tin down for good. I've tried to quit a few times in the past years, however I only make it as far as 1-2 days. So I guess a little backstory here, I'm 21 and currently a senior in college and I've been dipping since I was 16. One of my main worries is that because I've become dependent on it throughout all the stressful times during college, that it will make it that much harder to quit while the semester is in session. I go to a very rural college, and basically everybody here dips as well, so I'm concerned with that triggering me. I've picked up some gum and seeds, which is much cheaper than dip I found. Turns out, I've been wasting so much money over the years on this... I'm excited to say that today, I've started my journey for the better. I'm welcome to any advice or anything from you all, I know I won't be able to do this alone. Thanks
Hey man don't shrink from quitting! I'd suggest you read through some of the stuff these guys go through as their job/everyday life and see how that stacks up against your perceived stress. All I want to do is dip and I go through this website reading stories of some guys who are dealt a shit sandwich and don't cave in. So look at it from two points of view; better be pretty angry how big tobacco created some concoction that is as addictive as heroin and hard to stop using as cocaine and how some the guys and gals on this site quit using even though they are going through some hard ass times. That's the perspective I use. I really hate to be the bearer of bad news... stress doesn't get easier after college, it gets worse. So go get a giant cup and start drinking the cool-aid this site selling. You sure as hell don't want to be like me and try stopping using that shit at 50!

Quit now. You will not regret it. If you keep dipping, you will regret not doing it now. Read my intro to see what will happen to you if you are lucky: topic/30112779/1/#post11241557. There are many members here whose health was/is much worse than mine. At day 36, I am feeling great, and I will never go back. You will feel the same.

The suck only lasts for a few days. If you can get through that, the biggest thing you will have to defeat is the nagging thought that "Well, one little pinch won't hurt now that I've stopped for awhile."

QUIT means forever here. It is not temporary. Thumblewort set me straight my first day here. You will be in the April quit group. Go and post roll: topic/30106725/424/#new. I hope you will stay around and feel the support.

*EDIT* Not to trivialize your current position, but right now you probably have the least amount of stress you are going to have in your life. I mean, life is great, but job/career/marriage/kids/mortgage/insurance/retirement, hell, even grad school, are a lot more stressful. Now is the time. Not later.

Jack

Check out the Welcome Center dude. It teaches you how to post roll call. I'd give my left nut to be quit at 21 years old, do it now and never look back!

If your word of honor means anything, you can quit. Post roll giving your word you will not use nicotine in any way shape or form today. Then keep your word.
