I have been dipping for over 15 years and this past Monday is the end.  I am 30 now which means for 50% of my life I have been dipping a can a day.  That is absurd considering if I you took out the time I was a baby/kid during my first 15 years alive I would have dipped most of my free thinking years.  I have tried to quit many times and I'm done trying, I'm just quitting instead.  The problem has been just that, "trying".  It's a choice to do it or not and I'm done, I've quit for good.  You all have my word in here and I will be back in often.  My Outlook calender at work has ROLL CALL in as a reminder everyday.

The title of this topic is what it is because I am so excited about starting a completely different life, with so much more time to do so many more things.  I'm excited about not trying to figure out when I will be able to get away and have a dip or spend 30 mins in the bathroom so I'm not dipping around the kids and wife.  I'm irratated and annoyed with life in general because I am 2 days into this quit and it royally sucks and takes up way too much of my thinking time.  That will pass, but for the time being it's frustrating for sure.

rog, the first step is get off that crap. Do whatever it takes to stay quit. It sucks and you have a long road ahead of you. Down the raod you will be kicking yourself for all the precious time wasted in the bathroom stuffing your face that could have been spent with your wife an family. I still kick myself for being so selfish!!!. You can DO this!!!! You will be glad you did!!!
rogjames - let me begin by apologizing for not seeing this post earlier. Secondly, congratulations. I like the way you are approaching it - no trying but doing.

You will find this site to be invaluable in your quit. There is a shitload of help on here. Some of the help comes from the wisdom of others. Some of the help comes in the form of having a place to vent. A lot of it comes in the form of humurous distractions. Explore this site. Ask questions. But most importantly post roll every day. That is your promise to your group to quit. The importance of this cannot be overstated. If you need anything just ask.
I can tell from your post you've got the right attitude to do this. You've already figured out what takes many others (myself included) quite awhile to comprehend: Quitting is simple. Period.

Notice I did not say that quitting was easy. It is far from easy. This may be the most difficult thing you do in your life.

But the cool thing is that you are one hundred percent in control of your success. You make a decision not to put the dip in your mouth. Make that decision daily, hourly, even each minute if necessary. Its really that simple.

But you already knew that.

Congrats and welcome.
I love the feedback and support you all dump on the newbies like myself. Why didn't I find this site 10 years ago?? It's funny cause I've already found myself rooting on other people on here and the Facebook site. It is very contagious...this quitting thing.
