Keep up your quit Gary. You can do this thing. Day three is likely going to seriously suck, but you WILL survive. It's either that or risk knowingly, intentionally, killing yourself with a nicotine addiction. Hang in there man!

Thanks for all the support. My first day being nicotine free was not all that horrible. I did have a few heavy cravings that finally passed and a dull/mild headache, but I made it through. As far as throwing the cans in the garbage vs the toilet. I get the whole idea that it leaves 0% chance for taking a dip out of that same supply again and the whole ritual aspect of it. However, my stash consisted about 3 cans of pouches and 1 can of dip and I was worried a little about throwing the pouches down the toilet and damaging the septic system. Also trash day was yesterday, so it is all gone now.

Knowing myself, when I was on my first couple of days, I wouldn't care if my tin was under a pile of dog shit, I would dig that shit up just to pack a lip...flush it down the toilet next time

If I could count how many times I threw my cans in the trash on a planned quit I would have to go out on a limb  say that it was realistically somewhere between 20-25 times before I manned up  flushed it down the toilet.

Glad to see you MANNED up bro.

Dude... I have to be honest and say I wouldn't trust myself with six bags of dog shit on a can of chew in my trash. Quit fooling yourself. go and dig it out, and flush that shit down the toilet.

Good morning Gary! I noticed your Day 1 post on roll today for the Stone Cold Quitters of November. I wanted to welcome you aboard! This is a great support network for those wanting to quit for good. If you find yourself struggling even after reading through all the KTC posts you can handle, please PM me and we can swap digits. There are also numerous other great folks on here willing to do the same. And as always, post roll every morning. It should be the first thing you do! If you can make that promise every day to your fellow brothers, and yourself, you're on the right path.
Again, welcome brother. Let's get our quit on together, and kick this nic!

I just decided to quit my habit about two hours ago. I am/was a regular user of Swedish Snus and a light user of Copenhagen for a little over two years. I am averaging around 1-2 pouches of snus on a weekday, around 4-6 pouches on a Saturday/Sunday, and a can of Copenhagen would last me about two weeks or so. I have been having ulcers in my mouth pop up one after the other (one would go away and another would pop up) for the past couple of weeks and I noticed that I am now completely addicted to the stuff. I know that my usage with tobacco is a lot less severe than many members of this site. However, I do not want to be addicted to anything, so I decided that now is the right time to give it up, and I just threw all of my cans in the garbage. So I just want to say hello, and I am looking forward to kicking this habit with the help of all you people.
Don't just throw them away in the garbage. You know how tempting it will be to just dig them out and pack another lip??..let me answer that for you..I know for a fact that you will because we all would. Go dig them up and now and take them straight to the toilet and empty them out and then flush it all down. Good job for taking the first step in quitting though, your life will be a lot better without having shit in your mouth. Your first couple days are going to be hell because you will get nic cravings and all the sort of shit, but if you keep with it, it will get easier. Not saying that you wont crave chew later on, because I know I have, But if you are actually motivated and want to quit, then it won't be a problem. If you need help, jump into the chat and everyone there will be more than happy to help you out. Keep with the quit and I promise you, you life will be a lot better. My advice to you would be to pick up a couple of numbers in your new group and text them when you are craving..I'm pretty sure you will be in the November '14 group, so go ahead and post your day 1 in there. If you need help with how to post roll, go here...topic/1003072/1/#new Just highlight that and paste it into your search bar and read the instructions..it may be a little confusing, but you'll get it. Goodluck and if you ever need help, just PM me and i'll help to the best of my abilities.

Best,
Flaw
Congrats on your quit man. Get plugged into your quit group - November, post roll every day, get some numbers, and read as much as you can on this site! The more you know the more you'll understand about this deadly addiction. Rest assured what you are dealing with is NOT a habit, as you put it in your intro, it is an addiction. The sooner you accept that, the more likely you'll be to do what has to be done to truly quit. Hang in there man! It gets easier!

Thanks, I just posted roll and feel pretty good. I know the next three days will be hell, but I am determined to get through this. Also don't worry about me digging through my garbage. I put it deep in the trash bin and added about 3 bags of dog shit on top.

These guys know their stuff, Gary. Read up in the Welcome center about why and how to get yourself on roll. If you're done, get done.
