Welcome....to a hard battle but one you must win....the alternative is possibly death. Fact. I have decided to quit tomorrow.....for hundreds of times over the last 22 years. I always thought my birthday was good present to myself, or the new year was a perfect time to quit. The only right time is right now. You cannot risk more time....you may not have it. Quitting is hard....truly hard. However, it is very simple. Do these things. 1 Post roll and keep your promise. 2 Keep that shit out of your mouth. 3 Come back and show you me can repeat these steps.

I'll just be here quitting like a girl.

I kept saying I'll quit tomorrow for 10 years. You got this man. Choose life and freedom over the can. I know what you are going through. Drink as much water as you possibly can. keep reading words of wisdom and hall of fame speeches on here. You came here with a hatred of nicotine. Refuel that hatred to be your drive to quit.

Reach out to me if you need it.

I am proud to quit with you today.

My God if it hasnt been just 12 short hours. I am currently fighting a battle with myself. I keep saying Ill quit tomorrow, or Ill quit this weekend. I am driving myself crazy. I just want the urges to go away. The urge is too much.
This is the beautiful thing: you posted your promise this morning that you will not dip today; you are good for today.

It gets easier, trust me. Not easy, but easier.
Agreed you quit today because you promised. And tomorrow is a new day with a new promise. Drink plenty of water, try to get some exercise in (even if it's just a walk), get into the forums here at KTC because reading is invaluable to your quit, and reach out to anyone who, pass d digits along. You can do this!

And on the reading, it's great to go into the different groups to see what they were going through at your stage. Live chat is great too. You access it clicking the live chat button in the top right side of the KTC header on any page.

The urges are a bitch, no doubt about it.

However they are NOT "too much".

I've never read an obituary that said the cause of death was "dip urges". I have read many that asked for donations to the American Cancer Society in the dead persons name.

You have to grind out the urges. They will get easier as time passes. Everything is tough when you first start out. Quitting is no exception.

Hang tough, Marine. Finish what you started.
Jblack57, you are a MARINE so you are a man of your word. You just like me posted roll today promising that you would not use today, YOU ARE A MAN OF YOUR WORD, in the end that is all that we have here at KTC. As Natro said, go do something to keep your mind occupied, if you don't the bitch will fuck with your head until you do the unthinkable. One problem + Nicotine = 2 problems.

Check your pm for digits.
You've got today, brother. If you wait for tomorrow, it will never come. Many Bad Asses have walked thia path and it does get much easier. Just break it down minute by minute if you must, but don't give up. You don't need to be a slave to this weed.

Quitting is easy, just don't stick that shit in your mouth, post roll, get on here when things get rough - or get some digits and text a fellow quitter.

I have been in the Marines since I was 18. I started dipping around the age of 16. I am now 30 and am furious that I havent quit sooner. In my occupation nearly everyone dips/smokes. It comes with the territory. I have seen and experienced things that I have convinced my brain that only dipping can resolve. I know thats false. In my heart, I know that is false. Now I must convince my brain. God have mercy on me and undoubtedly the struggle I am about to ensue. I want this to work. I need this to work. I am ready to quit.

Welcome to KTC. You will find the tools and support you need to succeed in your quit here.

Please note, lots of current and former service members are active in KTC. Marines have their own spot: topic/1006068/1/

To quit: Flush all the tobacco you have down the toilet, skip all the nicotine replacement bs, go cold turkey. It will suck for a while, but you will live through it.

then join the February 2016 quit group, a bunch of bad ass quitters that will reach 100 days with you in February. Post roll, your promise to yourself and all here that you will not use nicotine for 24 hours. Repeat that promise tomorrow morning on wake up. (I assume you are still active duty, and will have challenges posting on some occasions... these can be worked out).

share digits with your fellow quitters, build a support network.

drink lots of water, exercise, read everything on this site for information and motivation. Check out the live chat for quick answers to your questions, or just to vent through the withdrawal suck.

I quit qith you today.
