And besides, you said you we're going to fail.

You're not even fucking trying!

This is serious shit, treat it that way.
I'm fucking trying.............I'm trying to go from having that shit in my mouth from the time I wake up until I go to bed. (I use to go to bed with it in, but quit that 2 1/2 years ago). Right now my office mate is sitting in front of me spitting like an ignorant fuck because he knows I'm trying to quit.
As long as you are going to use the word "try," you won't get it done. And don't bring that "I've been dipping longer/more than you. You don't understand." You know who the fuck I am? I was a 1-2 can a day 22+ year straight guy, and there's plenty worse than that here. You don't have it any harder than anybody else, and all the badasses here put their heads down, grabbed sack and quit putting that shit in their mouth cold turkey. Just fuckin' do it!

And watching your co-worker is making you dip? Does he suck dick too?
Do or Do Not... There is no try.

hey mt man,

There is no trying to quit. You are either quit or you are not quit. It's that's simple. I "tried" multiple multiple times. Guess what those never worked out.

I would pull the same bullshit you are doing now. I would tell myself "I can't go cold turkey. I will just cut back hardcore. Oh man I'm a badass...I've cut my usage in half this week." Then the next week I'd be right back to normal, and then I would convince myself I made some progress...no need to go all in yet. It is the cycle of an addict.

37 days ago I concluded another one of those fun cutback experiments. Going in I told myself this was going to be a drastic cut back. When my usage for the week only decreased by one can...I said fuck it. I'm done with this, it's had me enslaved for too long.

I dumped my can and didn't look back. Sure it's sucked...first 4 days were hell...next 3 were pretty bad...but then things started to get better. Not every day is easy, but I'm at a point now where I can go a couple of days without even thinking about cope.

No one around KTC is going to cup your balls and tell you how special of a guy you are for "trying" to cutback. This place is full of bad ass quitters who are all in and have banished nicotine from their life.

Time for you to dump you can and man up....or you can sit there with your office mate and tickle each other's pink parts.

Waaaa...My office mate is spitting right in front of me....boo fucking hoo. Either you're going to stop putting that shit in YOUR face or you're not. I choose not to do it anymore. And this bullshit of you're trying to cut back...I've been there dude. It's an excuse to keep dipping. The only cut back is to cut back to none.

It's simple - don't put it in your mouth. Never said it was easy, but then again...Anything worth having is not easy to get...or keep...
ok here's the two simple solutions to your problem:

- suck it up, realize this is gonna hurt for while, post and keep the promise

OR

- wait until the doctor cuts off your jaw or lips and you have no place to put the crap,

i think the second option hurts more

Is he holding you down and shoving your pie hole full of dip?

Nobody said this was easy.
Mville,
C'mon man don't make any more excuses. Throw it all out now get rolling on this quit and get yourself a day 3 post before Friday. I chewed all day everyday. I am not you but I know what you will be going through. If I can do this you can do this. If you want to know more PM me.

A far as your office mate is concerned, you will be clean and quit and he will be dead. Talk him into quitting. Misery enjoys company.

Mville,

When you are serious about your quit, post up a day one and keep your word. It will suck to no end but, only you have the power to keep that shit out of your mouth. Until then, stop wasting our time.

Time to quit. Funny how you remember your first chew. Mine was around age 10. Copenhagen, almost remember the buzz it gave me. Then good ole mom bought me snuff while I was still in school, Happy Days and Hawkins. Then it was just Copenhagen until it got too expensive and then I've been stuck on Red Seal. Have went from 2 cans/day to 1 can over the years. The Nic Bitch is going to be hell to get rid of. Started over the weekend. Got so bad on Sunday I jumped in the truck and came back with a can. Monday I made it all day on a 1/2 can. I can't remember ever doing that. I've never quit in my whole life, not even when I was sick with the flu. I ordered up some Smokey Mt Classic to try the mixing. The only way I could do it cold turkey is if somebody locked me up. I'm sick of the stinking spit bottles rolling around on the floor boards, knocking over spit cups in the house and office. Ruining pillows is another classic. I get it so bad I get up in the middle of the night and sneak downstairs (to put wood in the stove) and get a fatty in my lip. And deer hunting, how many times have I spooked deer that should have been d-e-a-d? I know of a guy who got cancer and while he was in the hospital, all he could think about was smashing another chew in his face.
So. What is the best way to kick this Nic Bitch?
The best way to kick it is to stop putting it in your mouth.
Sounds pretty hard? It is.

Sounds over simplified? Because it is.

There's not a whole lot to it. There are no magic tricks that make it easy. Man up and quit throwing the worm dirt in your head.

Slowing down doesn't work. Cutting back doesn't work. Schedulding your quit for the third Thursday after the next blue moon doesn't work. Nicorette won't work either.

Cold turkey right now does work.

The good news - In 3 days, the nicotine is out of your system and the physical cravings will subside. It's a hell of a ride, but your man enough, right? It's only three days.

Next, you'll tell me how I wasn't addicted as you are, or how I just don't understand your particular situation. Believe me, we've heard it all. Hell, most of us have said it all. This is just the brain of the addict talking. We understand where you're coming from, but we don't believe you. We know better. We've seen the other side.

Right now you have no way to know this, and no reason to believe me, but THIS DOES GET BETTER.

Toss out your stash, and begin your quit. It's worth it.
what woulda happened if it when it " got so bad" you didn't go to the store and buy one. ?

Would you have died?

answer- is the crave would have eventually gone away. Of course it would be followed with another one , then that one goes away, and then another. Some bigger some smaller. Like your in a fox hole and waves of the enemy keep coming trying to break thru the line. You take em on one crave at a time. YOu don't worry about tomorrow, you fight for today. Your solution? in this analogy you would have said something along the lines of
"there are too many big scary bad guys and gee fellas I'm scared to keep fighting so I'm just going to shoot myself in the junk and go home."

I guess if your not planning on using your balls to quit, you might as well shoot em off . Quit or don't, there is no middle ground, its not hard if you accept that its going to suck, and it isnt going to be fun, and it is going to take a long time to break free from a lifetime of addiction. There is no magic cure. As soon as you stop stuffing your face with dip your on your way.

If you can quit a minute then you can quit for 10. If you can quit for that long you can quit for an hour. 24 hours to reach a day then 3 days. At that point the nicotine has left the building and it becomes a mental game. YOur quit self against your addict self.

Answer this one, honestly. Do you really feel better after HOF (100 days)? I quit drinking once and lost some weight. But I swear, I didn't feel any better physically. I'm going to quit this snuff shit. I just don't know if it will be better cold turkey or wean myself over a 1 week period. I already have anxiety issues, so this should be just fucking great.
Weening yourself just delays the pain...you eventually have to put the can down. And when you, it will suck, no matter what. There is no easy way to do this.

All I can tell you is that you will eventually feel better. When that happens is unique to you. Some feel great at 100, others at 1 year.....doesn't matter. The only thing that matter is that you make the choice and stick to it.

Its up to you.....

PS. Your anxiety issues are likely, at least in part, are due to dip. But you'll never know if you don't stop.
I just went 3 hours.
I'll probably crash later.
But, if I do, I'm going to try again tomorrow.................
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you will never quit that way.

"I just went 3 hours.
I'll probably crash later.
But, if I do, I'm going to try again tomorrow................."

Probably? I guarantee you will if that's how you are going to approach this. Around here, we call that caving. We also live by the rule "caving is not an option." It's not even on the table. Not probably, not maybe, not possibly, not with pigs flying and hell frozen over. You are quit or you aren't. Like the rest of us here, you are an addict and, as such, you will take any opportunity you leave yourself to use nicotine. Don't give yourself the option like that.

Cold turkey is the only way to go. I think we've all tried cutting back, or gum, or patches, etc. If you are still using nic, you are not allowing your body to begin the process of recovery. Basically, cutting down, patches and/or gum are 2 or 3 on the this-sucks-ass scale and cold turkey is a 10. Here's the bad news, now matter how long you suffer through the cutting down part, the final step of zero nicotine is still a 10. Why would you want to suffer longer than you have to?

It's 3 days of hell. Nut up and get through it hour by hour for the first few days and you'll gradually start feeling significantly better after that. You'll have some bad days later, but you'll have some really good ones too.
This guy is not ready. Don't waste your time.
We'll just have to wait and see if he's man enough..........
Thanks for all the input. I'm such a fucking loser....
I knew I'd break last night when I got my ass on the tractor seat to mow. Then I got the guilt feeling, so I spit it out. Last night, couldn't sleep. I'm making it longer between chews and this can has lasted me 3 days and that is some kind of acheivement for me. If that fake snuff gets here I'm not even going to mix it, I'm going straight to it and fuck this Nic. My goal is to be posting my 3 day Nic free by next Tuesday.
You can't get to day 3 if you can't get through day 1. Fake chew is not the cure all, just a small piece of the puzzle.
