......I see no need to go over it now, its the past, I want to look forward and get free of this demon, I'm on my 3rd day, and its been hell all day, without being a slave to Cope, and hope to stay that way. I'm not sure I understand how to do the roll call yet but will my name to it soon.
Just a few things that helped me to get my head wrapped around our situation.
The past is important. We must never forget who we are.... addicts. The moment we forget that, we lose. Why? Because an addict can NEVER have "just one dip". It's not possible, because we'll revert back to our previous level of substance abuse. I used to think that i could quit and still have a chew or dip at parties, or while hunting, etc. etc., but that always led me right back to the can. Nicotine has to be removed completely from my life.
I think I understand what you meant, but be careful looking forward. The realization of quitting for the next x # of days or years is intimidating. Just post roll, promising us that you'll be quit for the next 24 hours. I'll bet you can do damn near anything for 24 hours. Keep your promise, and we'll meet back here tomorrow. One day at a time, sir....
"Hope" does not exist here. Neither does "try". There are two options: "quit" and "not quit". It's just that simple.
I'm quit today. I promise you that.
