That's a damn good question SmokeyG. I messaged him. I haven't heard nothing back yet. I'm trying like hell to get these boys back in line and on with their quit, and posting roll everyday.

Hey fellas. I'm new to the site and wanted to say I'm really happy I found it. I have a question I hope you guys can make me feel better about. I'm 5 days into quitting cold turkey and on day 3 I noticed my throat was sore. Along with the sore throat it feels like something is in there when I swallow. Is this normal to feel this stuff when quitting? Thanks for any help. I don't want to be the guy that decided to quit too late.
Bighorn,

Do a Google search on "cricopharyngeal spasm." I suffered with this during the first month of my quit. It's all gone now.

Be patient. It'll clear up.

Sore throat, huh?  Well, I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't look good.  Do you have a Will?

Just kidding...I'd be willing to be it is the suck.  But if any symptoms last longer than a week, or if it gets worse go to doctor...but not a proctologist, just a regular ear, nose and throat guy.
That reminds me,

Your shit factory will be on the fritz for a little while as it gets used to not having to adjust to the constant stream of toxic stimulants. I'm not saying you're gonna shit your pants; just saying it wont feel right for a week or so. Just eat healty, drink lots of water, try to shit the same time every day, and never forget how fucking stupid chewing tobacco is.
I'm still kind of new too. Just so I'm clear, do the same eating  drinking rules apply on the Sabbath? Thank you.

Yes,

This is the suck. Had almost if not all the symptoms of quitting listed on this site so not to scare away but it will get worse before it gets better. That said it gets better and it worth all the pain the suck brings your way. I do suggest if you have not already to get on some anti anxiety meds (IE ask your doctor what is best for you). I got on them late in my quit and found out they made things worse. Not saying they will not work for you but it is better to find out early in your quit. You are doing the right thing. This is coming from a quitter that has recently found out I have to have my left kidney removed due to cancer at age 31. My doctors suscpect I will be around to a nice old age and see my Son grow up so it a blessing I found it early. Chances are nothing is wrong with you but anxiety and that is just part of the suck. You are correct to also wait a little bit so you try and defeat your anxiety early. Hope this helps and keep up the your quit one day at a time.
Life is two short, so man up and be a quitter today!!!!!!!

It's called "the suck" for a variety of reasons. You just stumbled upon a few of them, but man it is worth going through that mile of shit to come out squeeky clean on the other side. You Sir are going through the same shit the rest of us crawled through. We know every inch of it, how it smells, how it feels, and how it made us feel. You're in good company.

Welcome to the suck. 'Sing and Drink'

Thanks guys. I am more worried about the sensation of something in my throat than it acutally being sore. I am going to force myself to give it a month before I freak out. I think that is probably good advice.

You can expect the following symptoms.

http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/what.asp

Notice that sore throat is one of them. Might I recommend you join and start posting at our site? It will increase the chances of you quitting this addiction for once and for all. Here is some good stuff to read. http://www.killthecan.org/community/welcome.asp

I suggest you read it and hop on over to the August 2011 HOF group and post up and start quitting with us.

Congrats on your decision bighorn. Pretty normal to feel throat, jaw pain, sores, etc. for awhile. I would attribute anything that happens in the first month or so to quitting as your body is going through a ton of changes.
