I'm on day 1,500 nicotine-FREE and I still have no magic formula to share on how to get where I am. Like all the other vets here, I closed the door on dip and did whatever it took to stay free one crave, one hour, one day at a time. If someone like me who at age 54 had a 30 year can-a-day addiction can do it, anybody can.

I spent most of yesterday sitting with my mother, who is in a hospital with a large blood clot in her right lung. However, I didn't have even the tiniest thought about nor the slightest twinge of a crave for nicotine during the drive down, the time in the hospital, or the drive back. You can achieve the same kind of freedom from nicotine if you want it bad enough and participate on this forum like it is a lifeline to a drowning man - and it is.

DMack - Welcome, tell us more about you. Why you started dip, how long, why you are quitt'n, what's your plan. Use this post to put any thoughts you have or questions. This site is full of great info and people. We will help you thru the early quit. Read everthing you can. Remember the basic steps are:

1) Post up everyday (early)
2) Posting is promise to not use dip for the day
3) Keep your word - don't give in
4) see step 1

If you keep your word and post up, then all the help and advice will be waiting for you here. You would be in the Jan group. Already some bad ass quitters are starting to shine in there. Link up, get connected, post, promise, keep it, repeat
