uh...... where you at, brother Mike? This is NOT the way you build a successful quit. It's a daily commitment, bubba....you ain't been on the forum in what, six, eight days? Not how we do things 'round here, dude. I sent you an email through the system. I hope you read it, comprehend it, and then make up your mind. I really do.

Thank you all again. One day down and while I don't feel as shitty as day one when I quit perc's it still sucks a big a big floppy dick.

A few of you mentioned posting roll as early as possible which I understand, but for my schedule posting now works best for me. So basically when I just posted roll I am making that promise for the next 24 hours.

Pab-I appreciate your look on addiction. It is so true. I know that I am an addict and I know I always will be.
We expect you to keep your promise for those 24 hours. :)

Make sure that your quit group knows your schedule. I quit with you today!

Great job getting your name on roll and here is my advice to getting this done: remember you're an addict just like the rest of us.
There's no cure for addiction! Believe many have thought they wer cured only to come back with there head between there legs and admitting what everyone else was telling them was true and posting up another day one. Once is enough!
So for me it's always been easier but never really easy at first, to post roll as Early Edd ODAAT! Be a man of your word and you got it! Damn proud of you and quit with you today!
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Hey Mike, great decision to get a jump start on your quit!

You might not realize it, but folks come in here all the time with future quit dates in mind, asking for advice. The advice that they invariably get is to dump their cans and quit now. Nine times out of ten those dudes are never heard from again. Future quits simply rarely work out, because if you aren't tough enough today, why will tomorrow be any different? Just about every one of us has chewed right on through a slew of anticipated quit dates. One day you just have to put on the big boy pants and do it.

My point is that your decision to do this TODAY shouldn't be underestimated as it might very well have saved your life. I want to congratulate you on that fantastic decision! 'clap'

Now it's time to get to work! I don't have to tell you that it won't be easy, but I will tell you that you CAN do it. Lean on people here, exchange #'s with people, post your promise early  every damn day and keep your word.

Welcome Chef, I can't wait to see what you're gonna cook up!
^^^^^^ Absolutely!! No better time than the present! We are here to help you in your quit. The one thing that you can rest assured on is that we are all addicts here and are only up the road a few feet ahead of you. Post roll and get digits. It is a brotherhood of quit here. Keep your daily promise. Wake up the next day and do it again. You are not alone in this quit. Hop on the November group now so you can dick-kick nicotine for good. Get ready for the mood swings, a few sleepless nights, crazy depressing thoughts. That's just nicotine trying to win you back, but don't worry... You've got the greatest support group in the world as long as you use it.
Just one is right back to where you were and where you were was desperately wishing you were where you are now.- Via Flip

Thanks for the support. I am a night owl by the way so most of my posts will be around this time.

You both are right. I can't make any more excuses. Instead of waking up tomorrow and buying a new can I will buy some seeds and gum and not look back. (my orders have shipped so they should be here soon anyway).

Thanks again for your replies. I will talk to you all tomorrow!
Welcome, Mike! That's how we do it. Make that promise early and it's good all day. No more seasoning the bouillabaisse with cat turds, eh? Keep showing up and you win.

Why wait any longer then a moment from now?
I agree. Chefmikejr, if you are still around, run out and buy some gum, seeds, jerky or whatever you need before that fake dip shows up. Let's get this quit started as soon as possible before your addict brain talks you out of it! B)B

Hey Chef, you're in the right place. Congrats on beating the pain-killer addiction. that is some serious shit. and congrats on now beginning to view nicotine as a similar threat. because it absolutely is. there are men and women in here who have not only lost their marriage, but also their lives in this battle.

It is a fucking grind it out battle bro. no sugar-coating. you're doing the right thing by prepping yourself, but there is no time quite like the present to quit. the alternative chews are good - i still use the coffee grinds pouches on occasion. I would also load up on sunflower seeds, gum, toothpicks.

Flush your system with lots of water. you must halve or completely abstain from caffeine or your first week of sleep will be completely fucked. best to stay away from alcohol too for a while. I quit 145 days ago, for myself, and for my wife. things have never been better.

lots of dudes are about to bust your balls about setting your start date out another week.... so.....
why don't you quit with us this weekend. let's start tomorrow shall we?!

also - go read up on everything on this site and www.killthecan.org It will help get your mind right.

ready set go bro

The quit begins...
« on: August 05, 2016, 01:48:00 AM »
Hey everyone, my name is Mike. I am new to the site and figured I would introduce myself!

I have been dipping for almost 10 years, and for the last 4-5 pretty much exclusively Skoal wintergreen pouches. I am at a point where I go through 1-2 cans a day.

I am planning my quit as we speak, both for myself and for my fiancee who I don't want to have to worry about my health as we start our lives together. I am tired of the $45-50 a week I throw away on this poison and I want to finally be myself again.

Another fact about myself this will be the second addiction I am trying to overcome. I made it through a Percocet addiction and for a long time I made the excuse that I had kicked the worse of 2 addictions but that is B.S. and I know it. I don't want to be a slave to ANY substance any longer.

I really want to get started but I want to set myself up for success. I just ordered a few varieties of tobacco-free alternatives(Baccoff wintergreen pouches and Teaza pouches) so I don't know if it would be best to wait until I have those. Either way I don't want to wait any longer than a week from today(Aug.11 at the latest) to start.

Well that's my slightly long winded hello to you all and hope you have some words of wisdom for me moving forward.
