This day was probably worse than yesterday.  Many times i wanted to to just say fuck it and cave, but again the stronger side just would not let in! I'm happy that I have resilency, I just need to find out how to get some friggin sleep.  I go workout and run, but i still can't fall asleep on time.  Tonight i am trying to go to sleep right now, and i made damn sure of it by having a little nyquil on top of my dinner.  I know it's not wise practice, but i must sleep tonight, induced or natural rest, i need the rest! 4 days of duty coming up!

Thanks all.

Day 3 to come! It ain't no thing but a chicken wang!
dip has to be the hardest thing to stop doing forever. I can't think of many things that I have done for a long period time and just stopped and never did it again. All I have to say, is the people that beat this stuff, including myself, we are all beasts of mental tenacity and toughness. Our minds may bend, but they surely do not break. When the bend we fight it, in agony of course and especially the first days, but boy do we fight it. It has to be the toughest fight I've been through in my life, but the most important to this period!

Thank you,

Good night!
Hey bud!

I did not even see your intro here and I can tell you are in a massive fog right now.

Do not ever think that caving is the way to make yourself feel "better". Why are you here in the first place? To quit? I am sure you have plenty of reasons for wanting to quit. So why would you take the guilt, remorse, and fear that you gave up earlier today and put them back in your mouth? Doesn't make sense huh.

You do not need dip to sleep. You need to let yourself relax on your own. I can promise you that if you have a dip you will feel so damn guilty that you will stay up all night knowing that you wasted your entire day of pain and suffering. Two more of those and you are going to be improving my leaps and bounds.

I'm not going to pretend to give you medical advice, but you need rest. Some of the guys here used Tylenol PM or Nytol in their first days.

Are you posting roll?

Day one down! Ready for day 2, thanks for the posts guys. bottom lip and jaw hurt all the way around.
Yep thats normal but that means your mouth is healing from all the damage you've been doing to it. Just hang in there. Chew gum, drink water, jerk off... whatever it takes to keep that shit out of your mouth. You can do it and you have a mountain of support behind you here.

The name is Guy, been dipping for close to 4 years now I think, doesn't really matter, just means I go through nearly a can a day and sometimes i even smoke cigarettes.  I got home tonight and sat down with my dip in, I pulled it out and my mouth started hurting again.  You know how it is, switching sides, upper decking maybe, and eventually both sides hurt sometimes at the same time.  I'm done risking it, rolling dice between mouth cancer and tooth loss and death.  I'm out of shape and my mouth hurts.  I'm done.  I don't want to keep hurting myself.  I am addicted just as bad as any other person has been and I know that it is possible to quit and that I will.  I have read the different topics and I know others have went through what I am about to go through for the next few weeks, but I know it will get better, it may take months or even a year to lose the dip mentality but I will win all the battles and eventually win the war.

Follow me on facebook as well.  I will post the link to my videos.  About to post one.  When i'm pissed and i start to ramble, it will be here.  Follow on youtube I mean.
First off great decision to quit and welcome to the suck. However, don't get caught up with some magical number. Like 100 days, or a year or whatever benchmark you set. YOU WILL NEVER TRULY LOSE THE DIP MENTALITY. You will improve at supressing it and overcoming it but you will never really defeat it. That sum-bitch will always be there somewhere waiting for a moment of weakness in which to pounce. This is not a war that you will eventually win, it is an endless shift of guard duty in which you must always keep up your defenses, shore up your weaknesses, and be ever vigilant for attacks.

That is why we, your brothers, are here. To help you keep watch and strengthen your defenses. If you have read posts on here then you know our advice, post roll, read speeches, get support numbers, stay close to the site especially early on, and never ever give up.

Stay strong bro, and Stay QUIT.

Hey Guy,

I'm an addict that decided the same exact thing back on Dec. 5th for many of the same reasons as you just posted. I hung a little calendar in my work truck and in my personal vehicle that I check a day off every day, it helps to remind me not to throw away all the days that are all ready checked off. I just joined this site a couple of days ago, I wished I had found it back in Dec., there is a lot of help/support here on this site.
Well Guy there are a lot of great people here that will help you every step of the way. When I quit I went down the Road of using a patch for four days and caught all kinds of hell for it. I used them for four days and was encoraged to stop by people on this site. When you get pissed off and very moody just come here and let us all have it that is what this site is great for. We have all been through what you are going to go through so we do understand.

If you do need help on not caving or just someone to talk to don't be afraid to let anyone know. You can p.m. and get numbers to people that will be more than willing to give them. With in these first two weeks it is going to suck really bad and you are going to go through THE FOG. Just stick by the site and keep reading up on what to expect. Make a good bond with your quit bros because they are going to be right beside you or just a little ahead of you with their quit.

As far as being out of shape, I was in shape befor I quit and within five months put on 25lbs and have been working hard to get them back off. I did expect it though because I always wanted to eat something right after my quit. Get some gum it will really help and also some sunflower seeds.
This site has a number of freaks and weirdoes too so tread cautiously.
