Coming up on 40 days. Still about twice a day where I need to have seeds or smoky mtn around on most days. Gum just does not work for me. My metabolism must be in a funk cause I am usually hungry and still putting on weight. Around 10 lbs.... I have liked and used this site almost everyday in the first month. Reading stories has really helped, took me awhile to understand role but than was very good at it "for awhile" . This last week role has been more of a burden than helpful. I do understand the reason behind it, but wow, people can send some pretty nasty emails, so be ready for them if you miss. Usually from people not even in your group. However some have sent some very helpful ones also and did way more than the negative ones on building accountability. That is the whole reason for role is that you are giving your word to a bunch of strangers that you will not cave today. Some of these stories have good storylines with people becoming very good friends and that is where the accountability comes into play. I also have used some social network to hold me accountable and feel more obligated to those people because there family and friends not strangers. Everyone responds differently to criticism, as far as quit tips what works for some does not always work for all, this site does help but the most important thing for me to quitting is that I did it on my own terms. I did not quit for anyone but myself, the wife and kids were the very next and large bonus for quitting but I was ready to do it. I do plan on continuing using this site, posting role and holding myself and group accountable of staying quit. Its proven and it works...

This is just my story, and how I am feeling today of my quit. Sometime it is ok to be a quitter... lol

Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Wow, I am on day 26 or 27 nights, however you want to look at it and last night seemed like one of the hardest nights. I think it was me getting caught up in watching the Broncos game and catching some of the baseball game when the fb game had breaks. Thank goodness for sunflower seeds.. Just goes to show you everyone that you can not let your guard down,,,,,,EVER!!!!!!!! 1 month is going to be a huge milestone for me but I have got to make it through today first (and I am going too). 1hr, 1 day, 1 week has never felt so good.

Today is the 3rd weekend. Getting easier but not looking for the hard task of hunting season. That will be my next really hard test. I've made it through a lot of test so far so I know I can make it.
Looks like you passed that test. Well done! :)

It seems we have a lot of hunters and baseball players on this site. And probably some computer programmers like me. ;)

If you have a trigger that you are struggling with ask here and chances are someone has beaten it before.

I quit with you today! Stranger999 - day 404

Midway through my 3rd week is going good. Using the seeds a little heavier than the smokey mtn. More so because I am creating a craving for seeds. Fake dip is just a filler, not creating any cravings for it.
Great job- keep your head on a swivel, keep watching for tricks-- and smacking them down in order to log another victory. Each defeated crave is one lesson taught to the addiction inside--- "nope, that won't work on me anymore". Whatever it takes to keep building your track record, do it! I think it's critical to build a network of supporters too- by now, there are guys i just can't imagine betraying because we've been quitting together so long. That really is my core motivation besides the knowledge of how evil this stuff really is to our brains.

Keep the good quit building, and keep logging it here in intros- that helps others and helps you too by creating a record of your victories!

Getting through the 2nd full weekend. Watching football Friday night, some Saturday and now today has been making it harder. However I am not quitting fb too. lol Getting burned out on the fake stuff right now, because I think I been abusing during the games. Plan on using mostly seed today. Funny thing is seeds might be better for you but the its kind of a nasty habit itself. The whole spitter thing and spilling seeds. I have the cravings but really never any thought going back to dipping. I know it is one day at a time but for any newbies out there, in my opinion once you quit for yourself it is easier than you think. Its got to be that you are really ready. Everyone is different but one you are ready spend some time on this site and just do it.

At around 9 pm tonight, it will be my first full week with no Chew.. Starting to think this fake crap is just as bad on you.
Congratulations on one week, that is bad ass! :)

Don't worry about the substitutes for now. Use anything instead of nicotine - it is way easier to quit fake dip than the real thing. ;)

On day 10, 11 nights. Yesterday was a little rough but today has been ok. Really been craving and eating sweets. Going to start working on that a little more each day as I am already up 5 lbs. I am short and small frame so 5 lbs is a pretty big deal.. I like using seeds the best but man your mouth gets so tore up. Out of the fake stuff I have tried Oregon mint wintergreen and pouches, do not like either one. Smokey Mountain wintergreen is what I have been using the most. Smell is close, texture looks close but packs in the lip very good. As far as flavor, well its not the really close but best I have found so far. Now if I was a cope dipper I would think the black can of smokey mtn would have to be pretty darn close. Walmarts seem to car smokey mtn line. Still looking to try some better ones, any suggestions?
Smokey Mtn has loads of flavors. The 'straight' is the closest ive found to grizz straight (what I chewed); the 'classic' seems to be similar to cope.

First full week! That's awesome man. Keep racking up those days you can do this. I dipped for 36 years and tried to quit hundreds of times. This is my 1st time to quit with support and I can tell you, it's been a completely different quit this time. It's all about getting to know the people here. The more you get connected here the more you will begin to feel like caving is not an option when those craves come.

I never used the fake stuff but most everyone who does said they relied pretty heavily on it in the beginning but as time went on they just got to where they didn't need it anymore.

Keep up the good work deskbum it may not seem like it now, but there are better days ahead. You can do this!
Just one and you will be back where you started.
And where you started was desperately wishing
you were where you are right now.
