Nada, it's going to be brutal for the first few weeks man.  It sucks and there is no way around it.  BUT, this is the ONLY time you will ever have to go thru it if you're serious about quitting.  There were times during my first 30-50 days that I would tell my wife "if I keep feeling like this forever I'm going back because this just sucks".  You know what, it gets better, way better but you have to log some time under your belt.  Right now though fuck tomorrow post roll and just quit today, worry about tomorrow when it comes along.  I'm 87 days right now and I can honestly say the cravings have significantly decreased, still think about it sometimes but it passes quicker and quicker each time.  At least I know now I am in control.  PM me if you need any help, this site works use it!
That is great stuff, grimace - you da man, i appreciate it..! Definitely good words.

that's the hardest part for me - it's this sickening feeling that life is NEVER ever going to be normal again.. And that I'm going to have to battle like this thing every waking minute for the rest of my life.

It is really encouraging to hear guys like you say that it gets easier as time goes on. Gives me a little hope for the future...

Thx bro
The good thing is that it does get better. You just have to sac up for a little way to pay for your past sins. Good thing its not a linear pay back! Seriously, it gets better and you'll be tempted again, but you'll have learned the tools and techniques to get by.

welcome to the best way to quit in the world.
Thanx for the wisdom  welcome, tarpon.

Quitters Always Win
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:37:00 PM »
hey y'all,

My name is Carl and I'm an addict, currently on Day 9 of my QUIT. Started dipping about 12 yrs ago to quit smoking.. Nice logic, huh? Skoal straight for about 5 yrs, Skoal wintergreen for about 5 yrs, and the last few i've gone Cope LC Wintergreen...

I've tried to quit several times previously with no luck. My wife is pregnant with our 3rd child (we have 2 boys), and that has really motivated me to quit.. I've come to realize that tobacco has become more important to me than my family, and that scares the hell out of me. I'm sick and tired of enjoying alone/solo/work time more than time with my family solely because i can just zone out with a lipper. Stupid. stupid. stupid.

I think one of my biggest downfalls is that during previous quit attempts, i've always tried to wean myself via the lozenges. That just never has been effective I inevitably end up back on the real stuff - mainly because of the cost...

So this time, I chucked the lozenges and went cold turkey.

It's been BRUTAL so far, but one of the toughest things for me is that my withdrawal symptoms and cravings etc. seem to get WORSE after about a week or so. This morning on the drive into work I was SO tempted to stop off and grab a can. It took every ounce of strength to stay on the road and not stop.

I got desperate and found this site randomly after doing a search on the webs. I know i'll need some help to make it through, and this looks like a great place to work thru it.

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom, advice, etc.

Bottom line - I'm in this to quit it. FOR REAL.
