koolaid,

You are doing great. Keep it up. I am one who does not post a lot as well. Unlike you-know-who (AgLawyer).

I think I should try and post more. I am going to get over to my intro page and write some more soon. Anyway, PM me if you ever need to talk.

You are kicking ass! 'rem'

Fellow Ag...

Good job on Day 16 - getting close to 20. The days fly don't they?

A couple of points - you mention how you want to walk the walk before you talk the talk. I disagree here. Personally, the more I talk the stronger my quit gets. Look at my number of posts...over 1,700. That is ridiculous on one hand (no I don't live in my parent's basement) but on the other by staying so active here it strengthens my quit. I remember earlier in my quit I read things from folks saying how it is important to articulate here how you are feeling and to talk about your journey. While it will help you, it MAY help someone else who is reading it and thinking "that is just like me." Helping others strengthens your own quit. That's why I set aside my work for a few minutes to pop in here. Sure I'm trying to help you but this is also therapeutic for me.

Sure, my wife thinks it is weird that I spend so much time here but on the other hand, she is VERY proud of me that I'm quit for 85 days today. Ain't NO WAY I'd be quit like this without this site and NO WAY my quit would be as strong as it is without all of the time I spend here. This is a big mental game you are in with nicotine so the more you make this place part of your life the better you will come out on the other end. And I'm not saying you need to become a post whore to the level of my sluttiness, just post up your thoughts here and there on your thread...when you get further down the road it will be cool when you look back at your journey.

To be honest, I come here and post as much as I do because I'm still afraid of myself. I want to do what I can to grow in my quit and change a behavior of 21 years of use. My quit is strong as shit and in my mind there ain't NO FREAKING WAY I'm dipping again. However, why risk it - I can soak up some time here, support some folks and continue to strengthen my quit. Therefore, I'll be posting roll and popping in and out of this place for as long as it is on the WWW.

Again, good job - if you need anything, shout!

Gig 'Em!

Day 16 -

I realize now that I probably should have titled my thread differently, but its my thread and like others I plan you use it to remind me where I was... so I stay quit today.

First, to the new people on the site just read, read, and read. This helped me more than anything. I have found many things that I thought only I was stupid enough to do and come to find out, some of it even has names (ninja dipping). I have also found many post that help keep the quit strong. The most recent was a post about a week ago that listed all the stuff a dad did not get to to with this daughter because the dad could not quit for one day and repeat (don't remember who posted it, but thanks I needed that)

I am in the stage where I feel that I have the nic bitch on one shoulder and the real me on the other. Both are telling me what to do, and she is very fucking convincing...but thats when I get on this site and just read somemore.

I have probably not reached out to enough of my fellow January quiters, but I think that is just kind of my personallity. I want to walk the walk before I talk the talk.

Good deal man! I'm Class of '94 (but graduated '95). I started dipping during my freshman year during bonfire while out at cut...solid use since but thanks to this site, sitting on 72 days quit. How are you feeling? Shout if you need anything - good to see another fellow Ag on here.
What is Big Tobacco going to do when they lose the State of Texas!
THAT'S what I'm thinking! We're gonna focus on all the Aggies first (bunch of dippers there) and then just get the whole state on here.
I started the same way - Bonfire stack at 2:00 AM... Needed something to keep me awake so I wouldn't fall off the swing.

Hey Koolaid, don't know if this will help but last night my wife asked me, "Why are you in such a good mood, did you start up again?" I was able to tell her, no, just free for the first time in my adult life! You see, my moods could get pretty nasty when I didn't have nicotine in me. Now that it is gone and I am fighting this addiction, finally getting control of my emotions and my life. Just stick with it and don't give up. Be a quitter for the rest of your life, like your life depended on it, because it does. Stay strong!

Day 2 down - Day 3 here I come. It took everything I had last night not to be an a-hole to the family, but kept telling myself that this is my fault and not theirs -

Spending tons of time on this website reading and re-reading helps!

Thanks again for the support!
