But I have awful self control, I'm driven and work my ass off but love the indulgence........

How do I do this?
Eggman,

I read this and boy can I relate. I think of all the times that I challenged my self control and failed. I too am driven but I would get bored and fall off the wagon. It could be weight loss, nicotine, reading a book a month. It always just got old and I would fall into bad habits again.

In my quit, I got such a rush at first. The honeymoon and the newness was exciting. Without KTC, day 28 would have been the day that I lost my self control.

Here is the fact. You have as much self control as you want to have. Your honesty about your drive and work ethic tells me that. What you are is an addict and addicted minds can play tricks on us. You are worried about self control. This is how you have self control.

Immediately stop thinking that your are quit for life. Don't even entertain that you are quit tomorrow! You are just quit today. If you are driven with a good work ethic, you can go 24 hours without a dip. Right?

Addicts fail with self control when they think in terms of forever. You can tease your mind and be quit forever by only quitting today. Worry about tomorrow when it is tomorrow. All your focus, efforts and energy is just to stay quit today.

If you wake up tomorrow, you can post then.

Also you want self control. Make a promise to us and keep your word. Your word must be more important to keep than a buzz. Right? So if you get a tempting thought for a carcinogen, you call your support for backup. Promise to quit but also promise that you call and ask for permission to cave before you do.

If you are a man of your word and follow the program here on KTC. You will have untapped potential of self control and all you do is go to work for your freedom from vice.

So here is the daily routine:

Wake up and Post Roll in the morning. First thing. This is your vow and your promise not to dip for the day. Say to yourself that nothing can make you break your promise to us.

Stay close to the site. Read all you can and get more knowledge and education on this horrible addiction. The sham and lies of the tobacco industry and develop a pure hatred for the evil tobacco empire. Vow that you will never be aligned with that terrorist organization. Seriously, anyone who profits for killing 3 million people a year should be hated!

If the craving is kicking your ass. Call for backup. Your brothers will step in in a heartbeat and your addiction will be back in control. (I experienced it...it is kind of magical and hard to explain but it works)

Then if you wake up, just repeat. Don't let fear of losing or caving paralyze you. Craving and fear in quitting is human. Just make sure the fear of failing motivates you.

Get reading, reach out to your group and get numbers. Build your support network now. When you start knocking on the door of 100 days, you will look back and say, "My addicted mind told me I had no self control, now my free mind knows that thinking is horse shit. I have as much self control as I want to have. I am free from my vice!"
Sage advice.
Agreed . Advice of Mt is solid, but I fear wasted. Egg head isnt quitting for himself, epic fail shall ensue. indulgence? Bah. What could be more indulgent than avoiding chemo, cancer, and untimely death? Menthol? And Kodiak? I'd rather lick a road killed skunks taint after a week in the sun.

Egg has already decided he can't quit. I can hear the whining now. It's too hard....... It's ok omelet, you'll quit after the next kid, or next week, or when your birthday hits or someday.

You best wake up soon however, it's later than you think, the next one may be the one that kills you.

Sm
That's too bad. I copied and emailed/pm him. I want to comment more for the newbies that had the balls to quit....

This is an example of talk without action. When you are controlled by your addiction and get your fix, it is easy to talk about what you want to do or should do. You say that you hate being addicted to nicotine and say that you are going to quit but never do.

You that have posted roll and repeated. You are accomplishing major feats as an addict. Sure it may suck, it may be hell but it does get better.

This is a choice. Neither choice is easy. Which choice is best?

One control your addiction or Two let your addiction control you.

When you control your addiction, the buck stops with you. You become accountable, you own your shit and you stand and walk as a man should. You overcome and win and that attitude will bleed out into the rest of your life. You start to believe and know that you are a winner and you get your hope in who you want to be back.

When your addiction controls you, you make excuses. You deny, lie and lose hope.
You like the buzz because you want an escape from your troubles. Your life is more stressful when you dip because dippers are negative people. They blame and have shame.

Eggplant felt guilty but the set up to fail is that he said he had no self control. Out of control addicts, that think they should quit but really don't want to give it up, will have booby traps all over their quit by saying things like, I lack self control. I don't need to post roll, you guys are rude so I am leaving the site. My dog died, I was drunk blah blah Fucking Blah! The user can't even own his cave or fail!!!

Never take nicotine lightly. It is a highly addictive drug and it is a killer! Along with the real fact that nicotine can and does kill you. Have you ever thought about how nicotine kills your spirit?

Looking on youtube at these out of control addicts, with cans of tin behind them, (Seriously? They are building shrines to their false god!) Look at their eyes. They are just a shell of what they could be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT8TdtZj ... ure=fvwrel (this guy and I have exchanged messages. I asked him if the tobacco companies paid him for his sponsorship. If he is doing it for free, he is just a dumb ass. I also complimented his shrine he built to his tobacco god. He told me to fuck off.) If he and I sat side by side 100 days ago, I am guessing we would look similar. Today If I sat next to him...you all would all see a drastic difference in who I am from just choosing not to dip. This fuckstick is lost and dead inside. I am found and finally living!

Eggplant had a moment where he could have been motivated by his guilt and revived his soul. Choice two was his call because he still loves to entertain his addiction. He gives in because that is his choice.

I am mad at the evil of tobacco. They are predators. They are recruiting children and getting them to be addicted. Everyone that posted role today. You made the best choice. Your day may be long, your day might suck but you stay quit and you are a fucking Man!

Cavers and excuse makers are not mature enough to man up. That can of tobacco they hump is like the little boy who can't let go of his bottle or blanky.

Men congratulations on owning your addiction, controlling it, and saying that it is about damn time I become a man.

"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

Welcome to the club brother. Quitting isnt easy but it can be done as has been proven by many of the brothers here. Stay focused on why you quit that will help. As others have said post roll EVERYDAY. Anytime youre sucking and you dont think you can hack it, get on this site and read the stories others have to tell. Or go in the chat room and lean on the brothers there for support.

http://killthecan.org/facts/jennykern.asp

Also print out the contract to cave take it out and read it when you feel like dipping

Heh, he's gone. He posted roll once on the 15th and hasn't been back since.

He asked how to do it and we told him. Guess he didn't have the stones.

Get some mint snuff I have been off of tobacco for 6 days and it has been a relatively easy transition. The mint snuff does not taste that good, but I am getting used to it. I really think it is easier to quite than it was to start 27 years ago. The snuff tasted terrible then, but I quite throwing up and got used to it. I can tell you that I have not thrown up one single time since I quit on June 9, 2012

Amazing how it works, I started smoking, or I should say my first cigarette was at the tender age of 11. I got it from the cool 8th graders, and all of a sudden I was cool too. I didn't obviously "smoke" back then but I tried it when I wanted it. In high school, again, same thing, smoked on the weekends with my buddies, but not all the time. Was introduced to chewing tobacco in High School baseball, we all did it. But it was more of a challenge to get away with it than the "want" to do it. In college I didnt' dip at all, but smoked like a chiminey. After 4 years of that, I met my eventual wife, who didn't like the smoking, which was great. I promised to quit smoking by our wedding day, and I did, it was awesome. I used Chantix, and while they say there are crazy side effects, I didn't experience any, it was easy as shit to quit for some reason, at least I remember it that way, plus the added motivation from the wife probably helped.

Fast forward a year, out at a party, offered a smoke, guess what? I took it. I started smoking all over again, just never around the wife. This lasted for about a year and she caught me, and boy was it ugly.....so I started......ut o......yes, chewing to kick it this time. This was back in 2008. Promised my wife I'd stop chewing when the first boy was born, in 2009. Guess what? Still chewing, and on top of that, smoking as well.

Here is the problem, I drive.....a lot. I'm in sales and I'm always on the road, and nothing helps pass a 6 hour drive better than a pack of Marlboro Light Menthols and a can of Kodiak Wintergreen.

I'm doing it, today, I'm done......I have boy #2 en route in a few wees and I don't want the boys to lose their father like I lost mine all to soon (not to cancer) but I want to be around, but I have awful self control, I'm driven and work my ass off but love the indulgence........

How do I do this?
