Decided I would post this as it may help others to quit.
I can't say how many cans of skoal and cope that i went through or the numerous amounts that I threw away just to go get another can the same of the next day.
I was a constant dipper going through 1 can every day. The only time i did not have a dip in was when I was sleeping, or eating dinner or supper.
I started using Skoal original but switched later to Copenhaged snuff(the best). I probably started when i was 16 and dipped through to the age of 33. There was a few times i quit with the longest being about a year. I probably dipped consistantly for about 13 years.
As we all know, dipping does cause some changes to occur in your mouth. I used to dip on the front side and never experienced any changes except for receeding gums. After i noticed that i started dipping on the sides of my mouth. This caused white patched to occur under the skin that could be seen and felt. I went to several doctors and all said, ahh that nothing to worry about but you might want to think about quitting. In March of 2009 i went to a Doctor to have them checked. She stated it did not look bad and did not think it was an issue but referred me to ENT just to make sure. He stated the same but said that he could not make the statement that they would never turn into anything cancerous. So i made the decision to have them cut out. THe oral surgery took about 1 hour that i was knocked out for. It took about a week to heal. Looking at the inside it not even noticible. The Doctor did an excellant job. That was March 4, 2009. Over the past week something triggered me to want to go out and but a can of Cope. Thankfully I resisted and continue to stay quit. If anyone has any questions feel free to email me.
