I'm sure you feel bummed that everyone is taking shots at you as opposed to offering you support. But you are a dipper, this site is all for quitters, dippers don't need support, quitters do. So when you decide to quit, I'll be back around to offer you my support. But until then we don't have much to offer you here.
My opinion. Chantix sucked. I had to go through withdrawal twice. At 20 days in I said screw Chantix and stopped. Put me a little more behind the rest of my month in terms of suck, fog, focus. Toss both the chantix and the can and quit cold turkey.
My opinion is that I was a dip/nicotine fiend just like you. I dipped skoal straight and graduated to Kodiak for 22+ years. For the last 10+ my next Kodiak fix was all I thought about. I quit cold turkey and I would guess 95%+ on here did it without Chantix. I'm on day 88 and I haven't looked back.

Just jump in and read everything on this site. If you are really ready to quit and you read everything on here and you realize that we are ALL the same addicts who have been doing the same stupid shit for YEARS - follow the plan posting roll and you will quit.

As for toomqr1... as others have said... why wait? If you quit today, all that nicotine will be 100% out of your body by your proposed "quit date" of 8/16 (it takes 3 days to flush it out).

Get r done!

Hey bud glad your planning, I was where you are 865 days ago. I was taking chantex, was mixing fake dip with my cope and cutting back on the frequency of my dips. My quit date was 11 days away when I joined. The day after joining I drank the koolaid, flushed all my stash, posted Roll and read all I could.
Keep thanking your chantex (it does take the edge off and you already have it), flush your cans, post roll, get active, get numbers of those you are Going through this with and buckle in for the quit ride.

Just in case you come back and read this, the guys posting here aren't trying to be dicks. We are all just speaking from first hand experience. The mindset of an addict of I'll quit tomorrow or someday...only tomorrow and someday never comes. It sounds like you've made an actual plan...but why the wait? Why wait for another week? Will you really do it this time? Sounds like you've got all the tools in place and are prepping. Just know, that odds are against a future dated quitter.

I hope you quit today. But if not, I hope you stick with your plan. This may be afterall, the first promise you make to this group. Are you going to be a man of your word? Will you actually do it? I hope so.
Toomqr1, it is so easy for those of us with some quit under our belt to preach about doing it now versus waiting, but having been on both sides myself I can tell you from experience that waiting is a bad decision. If I would have listened to the advice given to me in March, I would have had another 30 days of freedom. And brother, it really is freedom, why delay?

My advice is give it up NOW! Waiting 4 days ain't gonna make it any easier. Your bloodstream could be nic-free by 8/16, and that's a very good thing if you really want to quit.

Ah yes, the delayed quit. An old trick of the nic bitch. Flanny, ever thought about when cancer is initiated? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm not. But, I tend the think that there's got to be one dip in there among all the dips of a dipper that is the one that finally flips the switch. The one that causes something in the chemistry of our cells that starts the cancerous growth. That dip where the levels of exposure to the carcinogens finally catches up to you. I'm no doctor, so these are just my thoughts. Now, you tell me. If you think that's a possibility, what about those dips between now and 8/16?

Toss the can now, and by 8/16, the nic will be out of your system and you'll have the first 3-4 days already licked.

Welcome to the site. I am going to tell you what a lot of other quitters are going to say after reading your introduction. Why wait? You found us here on KTC, you posted your intro now post roll tomorrow morning and make tomorrow the start of your freedom from this awful drug. We will help you. That is why I joined and why you joined. Don't wait. You have taken all the steps except the most important one. Throw it all away tonight and post roll tomorrow morning. Promise to all of us to stay nic free tomorrow. That is it, just tomorrow. And then repeat on Thursday morning and do the same thing. You can fucking do this. So do it now and don't wait. It will be hard but we are all here for you. Good luck my friend!

The can will die on 8/16
« on: August 12, 2014, 09:33:00 PM »
Got a prescription for Chantix on 8/9 and my quit date is this coming Saturday 8/16. I have to say that the pill has helped me quite a bit and I am not a fan of prescription pills. Haven't been able to quit cold turkey for 10 years and i'm on 25+ years of Copenhagen. since last Saturday (4 days) I've only gone through 2 cans which if not quitting, would be like 4 or 5 cans. the pill, while not a magic pill, helps me with the edge. I am ready to quit and my whole thought process has been positive, bought 6 cans of hooch snuff to ease the habit and found this site that is great.

God Bless all the quitting and trying to quit dippers out there.
