Lumberguy,

I was you about three and a half years ago. I'm 56, and back in June 2014 I had a Copenhagen addiction that, save for a 15 month stoppage in 1993-94, occupied damn near FOUR decades of my life. Like you, I'm quit now. This place works. You're 16 days in. The SUCK is still fresh in your mind. Burn it into your memory banks, for the day you forget Day 1, the day you begin to become complacent, is the day you lose. Don't lose. Stay here, pay it forward. Quith you today!!
Thank you CavMan....I am on this like white on rice.

Thank you for your support!

Well, Good Morning,

Lumberguy67 here and today is Day 16 of my quit. Finally getting around to writing an Intro.

I am 49, turning 50 in 11 days. I have been a Copenhagen Snuff dipper since the age of 16. Prior to that, I was a Silver creek and Golden dipper around age 13. Had some cousins that lived in the sticks, and they were at a baseball tournament i was in. Between games, my cousin offered me a silver creek dip and i took it. From that day on i have been a dipper. Funny how a moment like that turned into a 36-37 year old addiction.

I have a wife that i have been married to for 25 years, and i have 3 beautiful daughters. They are all at 20 or above, so they have pretty much seen my addiction their entire lives.

Supposedly attempted quits have been marriage, each birth of of each daughter, when i turned 30, 40 and now 50. Failure every time. Why, because I have always believed there is time to quit. I have lied to myself about how hard it is. I DO believe this time is real.

We all know the triggers...Mowing the lawn, drinking, driving, watching tv, dipping after a meal, etc, etc, etc. It will be hard to seperate from each of those, but with gum and SMC i will overcome.

I have resolve to quit this time.

I will tell you the truth about writing an Intro...I am having a hard time because in some part its Bullshit.

We know WHY we are here. We know we have a PROBLEM with tobacco and we know we HAVE to quit. We know its a matter of time before it BITES us in the ASS. We know its not if, but WHEN. We know its EXPENSIVE but we still pay to do it. We know we will panic if were down to our last half can. We know we LIE to our families because we can. We know its not FAIR to our families but who cares, right? We know we are selfish. We know our BREATH stinks. We know we SPILL the SPITTER all the time. We know we HIDE it. We know YOU can see it in our TEETH.

We all have the same story. We need to be honest with each other. We need to support each other. We know its a day to day battle, that one day you might be here and the next day you might not. We know that this is a lifelong battle because the next dip we take will directly put us back on the road to addiction. WE KNOW ALL THIS.

So lets decide to quit. Lets decide that our health, our families and our friends are SO important to us and for them to see how committed we are. Lets make it a new day, every day. I want to be here a year or 5 from now still quit and still supporting.

Come with me as we take this journey together! If i can do it so can you.
