Quote from: BigwhitebeastSo here I am on the cusp of Day 40, I had been eating better and trying to lose some weight prior to quitting copenhagen but of course the losing weight thing went to shit as soon as I quit dipping.

So I posted here on my birthday 13 days into my quit a bit heavier than I was on the 1st of January. Now 27 days later I am back to where I was on the first of January weight wise and going down. I have been running nearly every day at least 2 miles and I sometimes back that up with a half hour of riding a bike or other exercise.

I haven't exercised regularly since around 1989 so this quitting thing that caused me to need to exercise has really been great for me. I feel great and I am sleeping better.

I still have piles of cravings but I haven't even been tempted to go to the store and buy a can. I see people saying they stay out of the stores that sell chew but I don't, instead I pick up a bag of beef jerky and that seems to fill the void.

I don't have any special words of wisdom, I just know I am quit and I have my integrity.
Integrity goes a long way. Glad to quit with you today.
Integrity is one of the most basic things a man has to offer. I agree with your approach. I decided early on that I had to face this demon head-on. We can't avoid c stores forever. I've cussed at the cans behind the counter before. Anger goes a long way.

Excellent post, bro. The personal victories add up.

Quote from: BigwhitebeastThanks guys. The thing with the chantix is i don't believe it's had anything to do with me quitting other than maybe it killed the nicotine withdrawls. I never had the weird dreams that anyone i know personally that took it have had and also it took me nearly 6 months to actually stop.

Maybe it helped but in the end it was my true desire to quit that made me do it. I've got two young boys ages 11 and 4 and i don't want them to pick it up and i don't want to be dead either. You won't see me quit being a quitter, I want this!
You want this? Dude - you already HAVE this. All you need to do now is keep it. Welcome to the suck. All you need to succeed is integrity. Once you post roll, the battle is between your personal integrity and nicotine. How strong is your integrity?

Keep what you've earned and gaurd it as though your life depends on it. Becuase it really does.
The love you get here is conditional. The condition is that you are quit.

Fortitude doesn't come in a bottle or a pack. I believe that with all my heart. I personally know several people that have taken Chantix. Every one of them failed with it. Fortitude comes from you when your mindset changes. We have to slam the door on that chapter of life. We are addicts, all of us. Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to man. It cannot be conquered on a whim.

You have already found your triggers. Now either adapt your activities or remove these triggers. The two you mentioned were big for me too. Alcohol is probably the number one killer of quit. I quit drinking completely for about 3 months when I first quit. Completely. Why? Because I made conquering my nicotine addiction the single most important thing in my life. It is a matter of life and death, after all.

As far as after meals: I kept sunflower seeds close by. The after-lunch craves are mostly oral fixation. Just had to keep busy. Some of the guys here are big fans of the fake dip made by Smokey Mtn, etc. You may want to look into those options. I wanted to get away from being tied to a can, so I never went that route. But if it keeps you quit, I'm all for it.

The main thing is giving us your word that you'll stay quit today and then honor that promise. Glad to have you hear. PM me if you need anything.

Quit with you BWB aka Tim.

You can do this man. You don't need any medication, just some testicular fortitude and your friends here at KTC.

The best birthday gift you can give yourself is quitting.

I'm here with you quitting today. Quit for today and we'll work on tomorrow when it gets here.
I quit with with you all!
