Congratulations NC! Nobody will tell you this but, roll call is made difficult so that you spend more time trying to get it right than thinking about the reason you are here. Well, maybe not...sounded good though.

Anyway, shout out if you need anything and congrats again on making a great decision!

I'm trying to post to roll call. If it is so important then why is it so darn hard to find and why did I have to print out the 9 step instructions to do it?
I'm into my quit though, just have to learn the technical stuff of the site better. Thanks all...Jeff

Noted...Thanks. So your power of persuasion worked. Tomorrow is my quit date. When I roll call in the morning I'm going to be hating life...stand by. Thank you again though.
NICE! The line in the sand has been drawn. Now step over it and do not look back.

Lots of water for the first 3 days to help your body detox. I've been told that REAL cranberry juice will also help. In addition to using the site, here's a few more links that serve my quit very well:

I've always been terrorfied of seeing the look on strangers faces (never mind my families) if I suffered this fate.

A story that will provide the motivation to keep you quit when you think you "need" a dip most (Reads from bottom to top)

The contract to give up Most people print this out and keep it in their wallet. At a minimum, read it and understand it. Because if you take a dip you have signed it. Maybe not in pen, but in your heart.

And "What to Expect" in your quit This was my bible when I first quit. It served to remind me that what I was feeling was "normal" and more importantly that it would pass.

I will not promise this is going to be easy, but I will promise that it will be worth it when you gain the freedom from your addiction. One other promise that was made to me by a pretty cool quitter B) and I will pass along to you is this: You will never wake up tomorrow wishing you had caved today.

Day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute keep that shit outta your lip. Whatever it takes.
I've always wanted to save a life, so I started with mine.

You have made a great decision. The first 3 days will be Hell and then things should start to improve. PM if you need a phone# to help prevent an emergency cave. GOOD LUCK. We are all with you.

Welcome to the site NavyChief, you have (or are going to) make a great decision. I have no problem with you picking a specific quit day, but.....If you quit today, you will be through the worst of it by the weekend and have a fresh start come Monday. Think about it....go sign roll and get started. Either way....strap in for the ride!

I understand keeping an important date for your quit as mine (4/22) is my anniversary. But bear in mind that everytime you allow one flake of that crap to pass your lips you run the risk of it being "the one".(-- Link and a graphic one at that)

And it also sounds like you are still romancing your addiction. Holding on to things like "opening a fresh can, tapping it down, and even collecting lighters or other paraphenelia" are going to lead you down a path to failure. Let go of that and embrace the suck. All of your corpsman training will remain the same, the car will start, the lawn mower will run, and the sun will come up.

Post roll and keep your word for today. Then do it again tomorrow.

Congrats on your decision. You'll be glad you did. This site is fantastic. Personally haven't had any urges yet (day 6 now), but I know if I do, this site will keep me honest. In fact tonight stopped at a gas station to get some oil and a soda. The thought of buying dip actually repulsed me. Walked up to the window, and staring straight at me was a huge Skoal ad. Thought of posting that irony here rather than giving into the "sign" that I was supposed to buy some dip...

I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone here for what appears to be the best information and support site for quitting chew. I've been dipping for 12 years as an alternative to smoking that I "quit" prior to my daughter's birth. Since Saturday October 11th is her birthday, I had set that as my quit date also. I joined today and plan on my first chew free day being Saturday morning. I know I'll get a lot of grief for not just quitting now, today...but it is my call and I want the day to be especially memorable and meaningful. I know that between smoking and chewing, we are creatures of habit that take a small bit of pride and peace in our "possessions"...opening a fresh can, tapping it down, and even collecting lighters or other paraphenelia. So before you get on the bandwagon about "quit today" please remember how all the little things we enjoy about tobacco, besides the nicotine, seem so personal and special. I want the quit to be just as important and just as memorable so it will always be an important and relevant date in my life. This is 100% going to happen and I already know I will need a lot of Brotherly support. My wife doesn't understand. I'm a Navy Corpsman and supposed to "know better" so co-workers wouldn't understand...all I have is this group for the real support I need and I am glad that I have found you all! Thanks for reading and bring it on if you must! Lol!
Anyway, that's me...I'll check in every day...
