Before I was aware of this site I was trying to quit and I went from dipping a can of regular Copenhagen per day, to just a few pouches per day. I'm 39, dipped for 20+ years, and overall in great shape. A few days in to dipping just a few pouches, boom, anxiety hit me. I'd have anxiety attacks about nothing. The anxiety killed my appetite. I also did a lot more walking, jogging, chores, etc, to burn off the manic energy. In about two weeks, I went from 206 lbs. to 196 lbs. I noticed the weight loss in my face too. I've been to the doc, and I don't have cancer. I'm also 90 days quit now and I've gained all the weight back. I would say, go see a doctor and talk about any concerns, that can help ease some anxiety. I would then tell him to join KTC, and put down all of the nicotine. We do not tolerate any form of nicotine around here. We're a Cold Turkey Club.

This is only slightly sarcastic, but it's not even addressed in your post, so it just lends itself to a little sarcasm.

Have you looked into a scale?

I'd have him see a doctor, unexplained weight loss is sign of cancer.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Hi everyone. I'm so happy I found this forum. My husband recently switched from snuff to the pouches and gum. Everyone keeps commenting on how he has lost weight. I think more people struggle with weight gain after stopping. But since he has started the pouches, he has developed health anxiety like I've read several others have as well. He also tries to keep busy to keep his mind off of the worries.
I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this? Is there some reason quitting makes your face look thinner? Or is he really losing weight? He says he thinks he weighs the same. And to me it just looks like his face and neck are thinner. Help please. I'm so worried about him. He is 48 and has dipped for over 30 years
First of all, pouches and nicotine gum isn't quitting. All he's doing is fulfilling his addiction with the same drug, different source. If he really wants to quit, he needs to cease using all nicotine products. He's 100% still an active user, not even a little bit quit. Sorry.

Second, if he really wants to quit, he needs to create his own profile and do this for himself. While I appreciate that you love and want to support him, this has to be something that he wants for himself and that he's willing to work for himself. You can support him in many ways, but you can't do this for him. If your husband wants to quit, hand the computer over to him and truly put the ball in his court. This absolutely can be done, but it can't be done if he doesn't want to do it or isn't willing to work for it.

I realize that my response hasn't addressed your weight loss question. Sorry. That other stuff is significantly more important. Anxiety and acute health issues are extremely common when quitting, but before you worry about that, your husband actually needs to quit.
Can't say it much better than PKY. You can't quit for him and he is addicted to nicotine not snuff! Pouches / Gum have nicotine in them so as PKY has said, he hasn't done anything! If he truly wants to quit tell him to sign up here on KTC and join the newest quit group. We are all walking testaments of how this method works. It isn't easy but It can be done.
