I've been steadily dipping the fake stuff which is making my quit really easy. Any chance you can get addicted to the fake shit?
That, my friend, is a habit instead of an addiction. Your body gets no pleasure other than the physical comfort that comes from it. You will likely grow tired of it over time. Seems like that is what most people say. No worries.
Dip all the fake stuff you want. I did. You will bore of it in a while. No nicotine = don't really care for it anymore.
I used the fake stuff for about a month then got tired of it. Moved on to hard candy for another month or two and am now "something in my mouth" free. To me the oral fixation was way harder to break than the NIC addiction. Yea the first few days sucked really bad, but after having a dip in my mouth for 30 years it was hard not having something there.

I say do what you have to as long as it does not involve nicotine. Stay strong brother, you can co this.

I just received in the mail my non tobacco dip my girlfriend ordered for me. It almost makes me feel guilty using it,
kinda like all the grossness just missing the nic bitch. Any thoughts?
Welcome to the grind friend. Glad you made the decision to join! Can't say that I have used the fake stuff, but I did buy a can. Stuffed it in a drawer at the house just in case. I feel the same way about using it though. Seems like it's still cheating. I don't want anything even similar to snuff in my mouth anymore, so I keep a supply of gum, seeds, seet tarts and my personal favorite a chewing straw. I see that a lot of guys do fall back on it. Sure is a lot better to cave on some non tobacco than the shit that puts you back at day! Keep up the fight.
If it does not have nicotine in it you can jam it in your mouth. That means anything. :D
There's a lot of different opinions about the fake stuff around this site. My personal opinion agrees with the above statements. I wasn't just quitting nicotine. I was tired of the disgusting cups, carrying a can around, constant spitting, etc. I was just done with all of it. I've never even tried the fake stuff. It just wasn't in the cards for me. However, there are a lot of guys around here that swear by the fake and say they would have failed if they didn't have it to rely on. For that reason, I say use whatever works for you. Strictly your choice.

Am I missing something here? I have no numbers and no one has mine. Please advise.
You need to check your Inbox. I sent you a message around 7:30 a.m. yesterday offering my number to you and asking for you to respond with yours.

james,
Way to go on the the flushing. If you look at my avatar, I actually bought that can so I could have an empty one to put some rounds through. I proceeded out of the store opened it up and happened to catch a whiff, pretty much felt the same as you did, and dumped the whole can of shit in the garbage.

That will be the last time big tobakky, gets any of my money!

Way to go. Drink a ton of water. It really helps.

I glad to quit with you today!

James,

That is a pretty liberating feeling, isn't. Being able to tell an addiction that has controlled your life for so long that you are no longer under her spell. Flushing that shit is telling your addiction that you are now in control. You now know her lies, you can get through a day without her. You are not dependent on her.

Proud to quit with you.

Day 5 here and this morning after shaving I found my back-up can of Skoal in the top drawer of the bathroom sink. The mere sight made my heart rate increase. Without a second thought I pulled the top, held my nose and flushed it down the sink. I thought all would be gone but there was the smell. I decided it was disgusting and went on with my day. I finally learned roll call this morning. This fog is getting really bad and I feel that my ears are ringing. I have dipped at least a can a day for 28 years so I guess it should take a while to be "normal" if I even know what that is. Thanks for the support from all.
