Hello to all!
I have been using snuff for 34 years..... I have quit a couple times but never for more than 2-3 months. I have several areas in my throat and mouth that we (my Dr. I) keep a very close eye on... so, this is the end of my addiction to snuff!
Sqwatch (Vince)
Wrong. This is not the end of the addiction. You will be addicted the rest of your life.
And you are NOT addicted to snuff...you are addicted to nicotine in any form.
You will quit 1 day at a time like the rest of us.
Make sure you understand the enemy. Nicotine is the enemy and must be avoided in all forms. Patches, gum, smokes, suppositories.... I think you get the picture.
Knowledge is power, spend some time and read everything you can on the site. I will send you some information to help you along.
Welcome to the party !
STAY QUIT
Greg
Squatch, I want to add my voice to what Greg and MikeA have said.
We are, every last one of us here, DRUG ADDICTS.
Say it with me, WE ARE ADDICTS. Say it as many times to yourself as you need for it to sink in totally. When your mouth and throat sores heal, you're STILL going to be an addict.
You will always be a drug addict. So will I. So will Greg and MikeA and the rest. For us, the addiction will never end.
What has ended is our use of nicotine. And all of the pain and expense and fear and self-loathing, all the lying and spitting and spilling. We CHOOSE to be free of nicotine. We ACKNOWLEDGE we will never be free of addiction.
That acknowledgement is critically important for a Quitter, as is our commitment each day not to use nicotine.
Glad to see you posted roll today. You have a long road ahead of you. We're not here to help make quitting easy. We're here to help make it successful. See you at roll call tomorrow.
