CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit.
After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco. SportDad 1/13/05

i am a man of my word and i will stay quit. it isnt too bad just yet. i just started work and i usually chewed at work the most. im a cop so im in the car alot and right about now its getting harder. i bought a bag of sunflower seeds to keep my mouth busy so i hope that helps.
It's going to be tough especially if you're on patrol all night long. Stick with the seeds and get some numbers to call if you feel yourself start to cave. Eat something, drink water, anything. You're not going to cave.

See you on roll tomorrow morning.

Congrats on making a great decision Neil. I have seen that you have already figured out how to post roll over in the December group but have you been made aware of the impact of hitting that "add reply" button? You have given your word that you will not use tobacco in any form for today. Are you a man of your word?

The good new is that it is only for today, then just do it again tomorrow. Like CR316 mentioned, read what everyone has to say on the board. Post your feelings as you go through these next few days and weeks. Over the next 3 days, drink a ton of water to help your body detox. Read the what to expect when you quit dipping section of killthecan. Knowing that what you are going through is normal and that it will pass will be a savoir as you tough out the suck. It will get a little easier everyday after day 3, and as long as you never take another dip, you will never have to go through it again.

You have made a decision that may save your life, stick with it. Ask for help when you need it.
I've always wanted to save a life, so I started with mine.

The first 3 days were the worst and after about day 22 or 23 I haven't had any real cravings. Grab some SMC if you feel you need something in your lip as long as it isn't tobacco. Read and vent on the boards, I did and it helped a lot during the first few weeks.

Welcome to the quit life, it's a lot nicer without nicotine.

Using the gum is only delaying the inevitable, go cold turkey and rough through the tough spots, it'll be much, much easier on you!! If you need anything, everyone on this site is very helpful and supportive and will be there for you!! let me know if you are needing help and I will do what I can
