Nice quit Karpet Guy. I'm curious, how is your wife doing? Did she join this site? We have quite a few smoker quitters (FLLipOut being one), as there are very few (as in, probably none) quit sites for smokers that rival this site. We are a nicotine quit site, and will turn no one away who is quitting nicotine in any form or fashion.
Quit on, and use this intro as your journal of quit. It will help you along the way, as you can refer back to it in times of need. Ask me how I know.
Did I hear my name?
Kevin. Irish is right, there are no quit-smoking sites quite like KTC. That is why I am here. And I am so quit - like Chuck Norris badass quit. If your wife is interested in quitting cigarettes for good, she needs to log in and post roll on this site. I am a 35 year smoker. I promise as soon as she joins she will have a pm in her inbox from me and I will be her biggest supporter.
My SigO is still a full blown smoker. Once upon a time I thought we would have to quit together to be successful. Until I realized that quitting is a truly personal battle. I still pray he will quit, I wish this nasty crap was eradicated from my home. but either way, it does not affect my quit. So, you CAN do this.
Thanks to both of you, Wild and FLLip, for following up with me!
I agree with you guys about the power of KTC. My mom quit smoking about 2 years ago and used Quitnet as her forum of choice. I spent some time perusing that before I found KTC and this really is a whole different ball game. The more I research about nicotine, the worse I feel about it. I'm probably happier to be free of the bitch more than I am the gross addiction/ habit that chewing is in and of itself. After 6 weeks I truly do feel better compared to even prior to my quit: My emotions are more in control, I feel better in the morning, I feel "cleaner" and healthier. It's for real.
As for my wife, no, she hasn't expressed any interest in joining us as of late. I agree that she would both benefit from and enjoy the brother/ sisterhood, but like you said, FLLip, it's a very personal decision and everyone's path is different. I am proud that she also went cold turkey, though. If/ when things get tough, though, I know exactly where I'm going to recommend!
Quit on to you, as well, and congratulations on winning the battle EDD!
