What's up. I'd like to introduce myself. My real name is Jon and I've been dipping for 22 years. Probably about 1/2 can a day for 22 years. I'm on my second day of quitting and my head is ****ing splitting 'bang head'
I started dipping while serving in the Army back in '88.
I'm having to quit because I am extremely over weight and I am getting gastric by-pass surgery. Before the doctor will do the durgery I have to be tobacco free for 2 months. Yesterday was the first day.
I've tried SMC and I hate it. Doesn't stay packed and it gets all over my mouth. I have an order of Hooch on the way and hopefully that will be better.
Tomorrow night is going to be a bitch. Sorry for the language, but damn, Friday nights are my nights to kick back and relax. And I will be dipless. So there it is. I look forward to sharing my experience with everyone. :D
Glad to have you here Jon! And we look forward to watching you kick ass on this quit. Read, read, and then read some more on this site. Stick close to this place and have a plan for when the craves come around. Great choice you've made on putting your health first. In about 10 minutes you're going to find your language is about the cleanest you'll see around here. :D
It will be tough for a few days but you WILL do this. Tomorrow night start with a new Friday night routine. You used to stuff that crap in your face and now you're going to do something healthy. How about hanging out here and reading every HOF speech. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and start out by posting roll in the July group.
You can do this, dude. Many of us here were faced with tough health decisions. I finally quit because I had to have my gums replaced. Yeah it's hard, and it sucks, and we've ALL been through it, but you can do it too. Don't worry so much about finding an oral replacement. Many have used the fake stuff successfully but others like myself find it nasty. I was never one for seeds, gum, etc, but those are other things you can try. Drink water, and think positively, one day, one minute at a time. You can do this.
Look on the bright side, you may be the first of us NOT to gain weight after quitting. LOL. Was that a bad joke?
