Way to go man. I used to be the guy that tossed my tin out the window only to stop at the next exit to get a another one. These guys have all said it but it bears repeating....you now have the accountibility of countless strangers that have been though exact same thing you are going to go through. Post roll early everyday, get involved and lean on your quit brothers and sisters.

Great choice. Find your quit group, post roll everyday, and stay strong. Don't worry about tomorrow, next week, forevever...just focus on staying quit today. And fight like your life depends on it...because it does.

Great decision brother. You will NEVER look back and say to yourself "I wish I had just finished that last can!" This I promise you. The next few days will SUCK. Stay close to the site and prepare for it. Get seeds, gum, lifesavers, etc. Fruitjuice, lots of water. Get numbers from your new group and stay close to the site. Read Read and then Read some more. Educate yourself it will make a world of difference. Visit this site too: http://www.caringbridge.org/mn/tomkern/history.htm

You can do this my brother.

ALSO- Stop by live chat. Its usually good for a few laughs and it will keep your mind off of dipping.

if you quit once and do it right, you will never have to do it again. I spent half of my adult life from 22 years old to 41 years old , using that crap for reasons that I am still trying to figure out. Do it for yourself and as they say in the rooms, its ok to look back, just don't stare.......You are worth it and don't ever think otherwise !!!

Whats Up Baxter--- I hope I dont turn you off to this site with what I am about to say. Just keep in mind this is just my opinion!

Throw the fucking can away!--And post up when your serious. I hate reading post of guys saying there "gonna quit' later today, tomorow, next week etc. I know you are typing this up with a fatty in you lip and you want me to be OK with quitting later. Fuck that! We have all made excusses about putting off our quit. Treat it like Nike and just do it! The rest of your life starts NOW!

Baxter-

I read your intro and it really sounded like you were getting the whole philosophy from KTC. UNTIL the las few words. "I have one last can, and then hopefully that's it." First of all there will ALWAYS be a one last dip. We have all decided to quit on Christmas, Halloween, our mothers birthday, Arbor day, after the Super bowl, etc. The point is DO IT NOW. I have another question: What if that last dip that you have waiting for you in that can is THE dip. THE one that leads to oral cancer. THE one that orphans your children and widows your wife? My advice: Sack up and start THIS MINUTE!

Totally get what your saying about just throwing away the can now, I've tossed many a half empty can in the woods behind my house or the garbage, but the urge always gets me. It'll be empty by lunchtime, and my plan is to ride out the day, go home and decorate the Xmas tree with my wife and 17 month year old daughter.

You're right, luck plays no part in this. But writing down my plan of action makes my intention that more real. You can say finishing the last can isn't going to help things, I understand what you're saying, it's just what I have in my head as the last can I'll finish.

Ill keep reading and taking in any positive or critical feedback until lunchtime, at which point I will really need to keep reading the board, because I know I'll need it.

I don't have any friends who dip so no one to talk to about it in my life.

Its not going to be easy no matter when you decide so you might as well toss that can and get started.....unless you can give me a good reason why it will be easier to have your little dipfest and finish the can.

Hope and luck are not a part of quitting. You need to invest in this 100% or it just won't work.

Your choice.

Last Day
« on: December 07, 2010, 08:30:00 AM »
Hi, my name is Baxter, I'm 30. I've been dipping on and off for 10 years, started in high school occasionally using Copenhagen long cut, then stopped for a number of years. Started back I guess around 2004 around the time I got married. Started increasing usage over the years, then switched to pouches somehow thinking it would help me quit, but it just made it easier to hide (wife is aware I WAS dipping but I told her I stopped.

I'm up to 2 to 2.5 cans a day. I dip when I wake up and use the restroom, dip while driving, dip anytime I go to the gym. I've wanted to quit for a long time, but always end up at the gas station buying a can. I hate it. As probably many, I originally dipped because of the buzz, but that buzz has been gone for years. Now it's just causing me to lie, hide it from my wife, worry about the health affects and of course cost me lots of $$, with no benefit.

It's funny because if I go on a vacation or something where I can't dip for 4 or 5 days, I'm really okay, I realize there's no way I can do it so I don't think about it really. So I'm hopeful that I can make it through the rough first 3 days, and take it from there.

I plan on visiting this board often to distract me when I would normally dip,
Maybe it will help. I have one last can, and then hopefully that's it.

Wish me luck.
