CNV,

Congratulations on your decision to take control of your habit. Am a recent quitter myself and just want to assure you that it gets easier.

Like they say, the first three days are the hardest but dig deep and you will over-come the cravings. After that it is all mental. Have to keep reminding yourself who is in control.

I too am in the March group although I have not posted on the roll-call. Have enjoyed reading the posts and have visited the live chat. As you are aware there are so many different resources available to help you, just have to find the ones that work.

I recommend the photos of chewers like you and I who have the side of head cut open because cancer is eating them from the neck up. Found that I was asking myself if my family deserves to have to deal with something like that.

Anyway, hang in there buddy...I'm certain there are a lot of folks here who would tell you if they can do it, so can you.
Ummm... Jack????!!?!??
I'm just a newbie here, too; but... how can you call yourself part of a "group" if you're not participating with us at a level of "group" support? I didn't even know you were a part of "us".
It seems to me that the more names and numbers I see posted on roll call each day, the more power my quit takes on. This is not to say that if someone caves that I am not responsible for my own quit. This is not to say that if someone doesn't post that I'm not responsible for my own quit. Ultimately, I am responsible for my own quit... period.
However, I got a PM today from one of the guys in March2010 asking that I post roll for him after he texts me while he's away for the next few days.
HE is a part of the group, is holding himself accountable, is acknowledging himself as a part of the strength in numbers that supports not only his accomplishments but ours as well.
Please note:
I am not aiming warfare here. I am questioning your position, offering you a different vantage point to peer from, and rather hoping you might reconsider your "group" involvement.
I can only speak for myself, and will not for the entire group; however... it is my belief that your presence in roll call will strengthen my resolve along the way.
You owe me nothing, though I'd appreciate your consideration of this mention.

Nice job cvn. It'll get tougher but just remember to embrace 'The Suck' and remember that we all went through it. Some (me)more severe than others. Keep up the good work and if you feel like caving, lean on us and we'll keep you straight. PM me if you need my # and I'll be your wing.

My Introduction
« on: December 22, 2009, 06:46:00 PM »
I've been dipping for about 4 years and I'm currently a college student. After months of telling myself that "this can" will be the "last can" I have finally made the decision to quit completely.

Today, 12/22/09 was my first day without dip and I'm glad that I found this forum as it will provide the perfect support group over the coming months. I joined the March 2010 quit group this evening and posted my first roll-call.

Its not going to be easy but I look forward to meeting some new friends on the board and finally getting rid of this nasty habit.

Thanks for everyone's time.
