ok cool. glad to know its not just me. After I was done eating my head was absolutly going nuts. Tried seeds, no luck, tried gum, nothin, finally tried Youngs Chew I have, quieted the brain down quite a bit. Is the brain that gullible that it thinks that just because something feels like dip that it is?
word of advice.......

stay away from Reese Cups and Cold Milk after say.....10 o'clock...and eating 4 at a time can result in 60 effin lbs. of new ass to tote.....

just sayin.....

after 841 days i am within 12 lbs. of my pre-quit weight........one way of doing it...maybe not the best, but one way nonetheless.......

realize we all have "addictive" type personalities that doesn't always take into account what may be good for us......

at the same time.....i can speak from experience....the Reese Cup Quit works

so totally off the topic of quitting but has any one ever seen the documentary Sniper:Inside the crosshairs? There was an army sniper in Iraq that took out a target over 13 football fields away. Holy shit! Thats why you don't piss off the US Military!

ok...so i know nic speeds up your metabolism, but I'm actually more hungry than I was on it. Like A LOt more...any one else have this?
Increased appetite is pretty common. Your body knows it is missing something it's used to, and since you are denying it the nic (nice work!), it will take food instead. At least that's how I felt. Also, for me, dipping was the first thing I did after EVERYTHING I ever ate, so my body was conditioned to think that a dip signaled the end of a meal. With no signal, my body would want me to just keep eating.

You will break these cycles in due time, but for now, do whatever it takes to keep from dipping - eat, fake dip, seeds, gum, excercise, whatever. Don't recommend alcohol because that has been present for many a cave. If you want to up your excercise or try to control your appetite to manage weight and avoid gain, great. But remember, QUITTING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL DO TODAY, so do what it takes to protect your quit.

Keep up the good work!

just wanted to say.....AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!My head is screaming right now for it.  I'm going back to school to lift some weights and run around the track for a while.  Besides doing the herbal stuff and working out, any one have any helpful hints or anything?  Ill be back later I just gotta go do something to stop thinking about it....does caffeine make any of this worse because being a student  I tend to drink quite a few dews a day...
Hey Gobo,

You can do this. Drink lots of water, stay away from the caffene or any other triggers you used to do with the shit in your mouth. Get through the first 3 days then it is all mental even though it will feel like it is physical.

The nick bitch will try every trick in the book so keep your head on a swivel and stay quit.

I quit 92 days ago after a 30 year habit of a can every other day. I have depression and anxiety, but believe me craving will only make those symptoms seem worse because you will beat the shit out of your self for not keeping your word.

I live in just outside of Milwaukee. If you ever want to talk or get together let me know. PM sent.

Stay quit Bro.
Caffeine can actually make it worse: http://www.killthecan.org/robs/cafnic.asp

Drink a TON of water... flush your system and remember one thing. You NEVER have to feel like this again... just don't dip.

Watch out for the caffine, you process it differently than you used to. You already mentioned anxiety is a problem for you and caffine tends to make anxiety worse.

There is no easy way to do this. Here is what has worked for me so far. I get up each day, post my promise and live up to my word. Simple, not easy but simple. You are an addict and you are going to have to re-claim your body and your mind. Quitting is hard work !!

Drink plenty of juices, water, when you think you have had all the water you can handle, drink another glass.

Get exercise every day, watch out for alcohol. I also found Yoga and meditation helped me quite a bit. Read, Read, Read.. post like crazy and spend time on the site.

I wish I would have quit in my early 20s also. You spoke about stress from school and exams and the anxiety factor. I gotta tell yah I went through college and grad school and always used that same excuse not to quit. In fact I have still used it in the past 8 years or so as a working professional. I always came up with some stress in my life not to quit, when I make more money, when my business takes off, when I get married, have kids... blah blah blah. You can always find a stress that will convince you to dip. Thats why I decided to do it for me no matter what stress there is and take it one day at a time.

yep imma just trying to take it day by day not think about what could happen tomorrow. although right now my chest feels pretty tight and im kinda dizzy....otherwise ok....
Just keep your head down and embrace the suck.

I felt the same way, chest tight, kind of buzzed, like I OD'd on uppers or something. The worst passes in those first few days. Just work through it hour by hour, minute by minute if you have to. Hang out at the site and go into the chat room as much as you can. It helps pass those early days with folks who understand.

Remember:

1. Quitting is the most important thing you'll do all day today.
2. Caving is not an option.
