Thanks a lot fellas. I can't tell how much this has helped thus far... It's cool to see so much local support!

Did someone mention dizzy????? I was a walking kaleidoscope and the real treat was to have my eyeballs stay on an object for three seconds after I had turned my head. Believe me that it doesn't last. I urge you to carve what you're going through into memory. Stay quit and you'll NEVER have to go through it again. You'll hear it a million times that it gets better. I can't say when but there will be a time where you'll reach an epiphany and you'll wonder how you ever started with that crap. Stick close to this place, read everything you can, and know that you're stronger than a can of poison. We've got your back!

Hey,
My Name's August, I started my quit today. After 16 years of smoking and dipping I'm quitting. All of it. I'm done. This will be the second time I've tried to quit this year. Only this time I'm not trying, I'm doing it.

Two weeks ago I started planning and packing for my yearly bivouac archery elk hunt. (for those that don't know, bivouacking means sleeping in improvised shelters, tarps, or bivy sacks. Along with this goes ultra light camping/hiking). As I was packing I made sure to leave enough space for at least 8-9 cans of Skoal in my pack. 8-9 cans is enough to get me through 8 days. That's a lot of space, especially when you're trying to stay small and light. I packed 4 different times. Each time, pulling out something of importance so I could fit my chew. I finally said, "OK, if I didn't chew could I fit everything in there?". The answer is yes. There is the obvious irony, but more importantly to me, this is the perfect time to quit.

For the last two weeks I've been preparing my quit. Yesterday I called the Colorado Quit Line so I could order some nicotine patches. After that, I found Kill The Can. I read through some posts and other info and really liked the brotherhood and the attitude. This morning I woke up and decided not to wait for the patches. I logged on and signed in to roll call.

Skoal, you can get fuct.

Quittin' in Westminster here, 231 days and going strong- if you can hunt elk that way you can quit putting cat turds in your lip! Drink of choice is not important but Texans lack taste buds so keep that in mind as you travel.

Welcome!

Welcome Aug! Not only do we have Colorado in common (all Colorado boys responding thus far), but we share our quit month and of course, name.

You are making the smartest decision you can — not only quitting but also having KTC as a major part of your plan. Use this site non-stop. Lean on the brothers and sisters here that are battling through their early quit with you as well as the quitters who have 3+ years under their belt. We are in the crap with you and we will re-live the crap with you so you don't go it alone.

The first and best thing for you is to get to your quit month and post roll. Posting in your quit group is your word that, for simply 24 hours, you will not put nicotine in your body. By doing so, you have just created instant accountability for yourself and you have given strength and support to all the quitters around you. A very simple concept but powerful beyond description.

You made the only decision you can when it comes to chewing along with having KTC as a major piece of that decision. You now have everything you need now to put the nic bitch behind you forever.

Make it stick. You will do this. You need anything, let us know.

"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."
